Another vote for "Alaska's Wolf Man"-Jim Rearden, great book......also "Shadows on the Koyukuk" by Rearden/Huntington, not only about hunting, but a good book nonetheless.

As the North Wind Blows and North to Cree Lake by Art Karras. Great adventure books, true too. I have read each of these books probably six times over the years. To me, it's like visiting old friends.:)

Good call on "Green Hills of Africa" I flat out enjoy reading Hemingway!

Any of the grizzly-bear books by Gary Shelton blow away the Larry Kanuit 'fluff', in my opinion.

I tired of the Kanuit stuff after just a few chapters; the Shelton books, I read cover-to-cover.

Dangerous River by R. Patterson. Its a great tale about hunting and trapping the Nahanni area of the NWT. Sheep ,moose caribou and bear as well as making a stew out of wolverine when pickings were slim.Great book on wilderness trapping, hunting and canoeing. Best outdoor book I have read and I have read a few. "Let me get him and I will be willing to grow cabbages for the rest of my life" His thoughts as he sees a trophy Dall sheep.

X2, excellent read, and available at the local library. But it might have a waiting list. It's much sought after.

Anything by Ernest Thompson Seaton. These were written around the turn of the century but have a lot of woods craft and hunting or trapping info. Rolf in the woods is one of my favorites and is available on line if anyone wants to see it.
