Hunting in Banff National Park

Actually I know a "regular guy" up here who got drawn and was successful.

Was it a private license or something? I can't find anything in the "ministers special license draws" for 2024. That's great for your buddy though.

I knew a guy that went on a NWT hunt and on that hunt was a fella who "guided" buffalo hunts on a ranch in Wyoming. Of course they knew where they were but they used horses, had a camp and a stalk to shoot a couple. The euro guys loved it and paid big dough. That was a long time ago though and I don't know what ranch. A bunch of them will still take you out to shoot one. Roughly $6k US for a good bull and pay a local processor.

It was a limited draw application

Kind of like the native hunters that drive past 500 deer standing around, to go shoot draw protected bighorn rams for “sustenance”.

Same thing occurred when the opened up Jasper to a BC FN group.
Every single animal they took was "Trophy Status", including tame rams, elk, mulies & a couple whitetails.

Subsistence my ass.
That was a government protected sole source trophy hunt.
Period.
