As for your original question..... Blond with small boobs or Brunette with big boobs.... it's really just preference man.
And you've got a cheaper alternative for a good deer and bigger rifle? lol
Walmart sells both for $25/box. If thats too much per round for a hunter, then how can you afford tags, licenses, gear, and gas to get to where you need to go? Lol
I have a .308 and a .30-06 ... and a few others.
I do not hunt bear and, here on Vancouver Island, the deer are a tad smaller than say Alberta .. and typically a long shot is 300 yards or so.
So, in practical terms, whether I carry a .308 or a .30-06 really makes very little difference here.
Having said that, my preference is for neither.
- In my short-action rifles, I prefer shooting my 7mm-08 (Kimber) to my .308 (Kimber)
- In my long-action rifles, I prefer shooting my .270 (Win70 Fwt) to my .30-06 (Win70 SG)
By shooting, I mean at the range, not hunting. And I prefer them just because - no real reason.
For hunting, as I implied above, the deer don't seem to care so much about my preferences.
My recommendation: Buy what looks right, feels right and, for you, shoots straight.
And practice, practice, practice (in various hunting positions).
Because ANY of these calibers are quite capable of merely wounding a deer if you misplace the shot.
My 2 cents. And worth every penny!

Is 280Rem better than 270Win?
How about performance difference between 222Rem and 223Rem?
Please give it a rest, how long can you beat the dead horse?
308 in a lightweight rifle best walk hunt rifle 165gn 0 at 200m
30-06 24 inch whit 180gn for bait hunting is perfect 0 at 100m
I would like some advice in regards to which of the following would be a better hunting rifle in Alberta - the options are
- Thompson Center Venture .30-06
- Savage 10TR .308 WIN (20" barrel)
Typically hunting for deer - but want the option to go for larger game
Thanks
Both these cartridges are ballistic twins until the the 200 and 220 grain bullet is utilized. Only the 30-06 shoots these bullet weights worth a damn.
