Hunting shows. Whatcha wachin?

Both multi year series on YouTube...two of the best shows out there.

1) Midwest Whitetail (with Bill Winke)
2) The High Road (with Keith Warren)

Watch a couple dozen episodes of both and then tell me what you think of what these gentlemen have produced. True hunters and conservationists through and through.

For DVD shows, I like ‘The Guides Eye’ . There are also some independent film people that use Stoney-Wolf productions. Just looking at one, ‘Bush thrashing bulls’ . I also don’t mind the Truth Series by Primos. They do have some drama, but they don’t always have good camera footage and don’t always shoot the biggest animal.
Edit; I do like ‘Meat Eater’ as well! I have not gotten any of the DVD shows, just seen what’s on Netflix. Wish they would add more the Netflix.

Fresh Tracks with Randy Newberg is my personal favourite.
Lots of other good ones on YouTube.
Solohuntr and the flush are two of the better ones.

I had it for a bit longer than that, but they way they flogged some products (remember King Optics?) convinced me they shouldn't be getting any of my dollars

With a 1/2 hour hunting show there was 22 minutes of Advertisement/commercials, the rest was hunting. BUT, what turned me off were the theatrics when one is in front of a camera.:puke: After the kill, many deserved an Oscar at the Academy Awards for their over dramatized celebration. The most and least I ever done was give a handshake, hug and a verbal congratulations. This past autumn (2017) we harvested three nice trophies and reacted in a most conservative and respectful manner.

Meat Eater is good, but gets a bit silly at times. I mean, it's hunting, and we do it because it's fun. It's not like it's some sacred activity.

I used to love watching Kristoffer Clausen's older montages on YouTube, but his newer stuff is super lame. Take some model to Africa, get her to shoot a warthog, sell the DVD.

Some of the stuff you see on the Quebecois hunting expo circuit is OK. Tournee de films de chasse or something like that, I have friends who've had footage in there.

I occasionally enjoy Deadly Passion, but I don't think she's an especially great shot. Props to her for the self-filmed stuff, but when she's going "handgun hunting" and brings a bipod, it just looks ridiculous. She is definitely one of the better shows out there.

The Field Archer has great YouTube stuff if you want to see deer smacked down.

I think there's actually a huge opportunity for some sort of YouTube show that collects user clips, along with generating practical new content. As always, the trouble is revenue. Views alone will never pay the bills, so you need sponsorship. If I lost my job in the motorcycle industry, this is something I'd be chasing for sure. Something like hickock45 or Iraquiveteran888, easy going but genuine.

The main issue with most Canadian shows is that they do very little to actually help you feel the excitement of the hunt, and if there is something cool, it's ruined by some lame lame lame canned music, and the clip at the end where they say they couldn't have done it without their YamaSaki ATV. I get it, they have bills to pay, but the BS just turns me off.

I don't watch those things.

I don't have cable TV, nor do I look any of those shows up on Youtube.

I've seen a few amateur attempts by fellow hunters posted on another site and the as soon as the canned, trashy, over-excited soundtrack kicked in I clicked off.

+1for MyOutdoorTv. Can watch on any streaming device on a TV or on a tablet, computer browser or even your phone. Many good shows, some less good. The whole Shockey collection including Uncharted, equal to or possibly better than Meat Eater. And the price is terrific... Plus a one month free offer? Sounds like I'm shilling but you'll see if you try.

Personally, I can't watch anything with Shockey in it - honestly can't believe you just compared it favourably to MeatEater.

Different strokes, as they say.

By the way, RidgeHunter, all the early seasons of MeatEater are "out there" if you know how to find them or want to pay for them (assuming here you only watched the seasons available on Netflix).

Midwest whitetail with Bill winke, online semi live whitetail hunting though out the season and his chasing November series.

Right now the hunting public, the young guys that used to work with Winke. They are turkey hunting, and they do a semi live whitetail show during the season, public land mainly.

The shows are much better than anything produced for TV.

I like some of the shows where you can tell the star is a genuinely good hunter. I consider Steve rinella, cody Robbins, Randy Newberg, remi Warren, real hunters. There are more, Fred eichler, Chuck Adams. They all put on a show that I can watch. It's hard to watch them on wildtv due to the constant pushing of garbage products. Camillus knives and rage broadheads. Give me a break. YouTube is a different story though. I watched the badlands film festival videos and some of the hushin shows. I just can't stand when they all start to praise the Lord and get all teary eyed. Like you said, different strokes.

I can't stand anything with Schwanky in it. His commercials are the most annoying on Wild TV.

The most entertaining video I've seen lately was Chris Brackett from Fear No Evil/Arrow Affliction illegally shooting a 2nd buck with his muzzle loader and cursing like a trucker. Basically acting like the huge tool he is. The video was released by the camera man. Not sure where all of the legal issues ended up, but I see him popping up on social media again.

Knowing how contrived and produced these shows are, I can't stomach them any longer. Archery shows are the worst with the face paint and whispering in the tree. I'd rather watch guys in the mountains shoot game with rifles.

I gave up a long time ago.Used to like Canada in the Rough when Thomas Pigeon was on but not anymore.

What he said. The current crop of hunting shows have too many young “A” type personalities that can only shout instead of talk and high five constantly like a class full of coffee drinking special needs kids. Then they relentlessly pimp their sponsors, just so we can go to commercial, for their sponsors.
There’s some good stuff on YouTube but you have to weed through a bunch of crap.
