Over the years, on different hunts I get in the field only to realize I forgot something mega important at home. Worst time was my partners and I got 7 hours up river, shot 2 big 1000lb+ bull moose, then realized nobody took the hunting knife bag. (Saws, knives, scalpels, etc)
Darkness was about 1 hr away so going back would have been 5hrs downriver, 1hr drive to camp, plus 7 hours back up river. We ended up butchering both moose with a leatherman and a souvenir 1.5" blade pocketknife I found in my pack.
Since then, I have used lists EVERYTIME I HUNT to be sure I dont forget something important.
Do you guys use lists or just wing it. If you do, wanna share your list so new hunters have a template to use?
