Hunting supplies checklist. Do you use one?

Happens to somebody at our hunt camp every year lmao. I keep a lock pick set now. About 30 seconds and the lock is off and not damaged.

I keep my important stuff on my vest. And make a mental list I go over about 30 times while packing and after I leave "oh crap I forgot my gloves" haha

I should start a paper list.

Lock pick set? All it really takes is a small screw flat head screwdriver usually... I had to do this once after I bought a gun online and it showed up with a lock but no key!

I use the KISS method, keep is simple stupid. Gun, correct cartridges, compass, knife, matches/lighter, phone, headlamp, hunter orange vest and hat, mitts and chocolate bars. I still-hunt, so I like to travel light.

I make lists for any kind of trip, be it shopping, work or hunting. Hunting I generally have a pack that’s got all my necessities in all year, it’s ready to go at a moment’s notice for anything locally. If I’m heading away from home I make a list of the extra stuff I’ll need to bring.

Me too.

Not just things to bring but items to do at home like setting the timer lights, closing all widows, making sure all appliances are off etc etc.

Having filled out the checklist lessons that ever present 'what have I forgotten' feeling when you are on your way out the driveway.

I had the kit previously, was a hobby for a while just screwing around with different locks at home. Now I just leave it in my stuff at the hunt camp. I've heard of it being done that way but never tried it. Takes longer to get the picks out than it does to get it open. Less likley to scratch the gun with the picks to. I'd be scared to scratch somebody else's gun.

I have a complete list with all my gear and use it as a check list to pack from. I keep some of the common stuff in molle packs so I can throw them in a blind bag, backpack, etc.

Even at my "young" age lists are your friend. Even as a 19 yr old I had hunting lists (after I forgot blankets on a northern BC Nov moose hunt), over the years they evolved into specific hunting, fishing and both fishing/hunting lists, think spring bear by boat or Northern BC in fall. Equipment, food, personnel, clothing, all in excel spreadsheets with columns, "ready", "packed" and "confirmed" checks. Funny I am packing today, leave Monday for 2 month BC safari. Good job I have lists.

I have a list on my computer that I print out and check off as I am packing for every hunting trip.
Before I had that I forgot things a few times and forgetting something can really cause problems. One thing that comes to mind is a friend forgot his trigger lock key. A few hours at camp were spent getting the lock off.

Likewise. The camper contains many things, but fishing or hunting specific requirements are on the list.
