Hunting wool jacket made in Canada

I have a capote made from a 5 point (IIRC) Hudson Bay blanket that is 100% wool. Most capotes are made from the militia-stripe HB blankets but mine is red with black stripe. Don’t know what an HB blanket goes for these days and patterns for making a capote are not difficult to find. Maybe not what you want but a possible option.

80% wool is regarded to be a good mix of thermal ability and 20% other for strength and shrinkage control. May be worth considering.

100% wool is hard to come by. Maybe find some wool blankets locally and get someone to sew something up if you really are set on 100% wool?

I too did look for 100% wool at one time. I ended up with mostly 80/20 mix garments. The 80/20 have been great and seem to be better at retaining their shape when wet ( vs the few 100% wool pieces i have used). Either can't go wrong, but 80/20 is much easier to find.

Varestuleka is another source for some wool products.
 
Filson Double Mackinaw all the way for me. Not made in Canada, but close, Seattle. Not cheap either, $900. I also have a Tough Duck coat as well, just as good!

Well I hunted Maine from the mid 80's to 2005 ........ Every year we hit Freeport for LL Bean stuff ....... The quality was great ....... Now the stuff is supercheap at crazy prices ....... Anyway it'll be awhile before I buy anything from the US.
 
None of it’s cheap unless you can find old surplus in your size. Sweater chalet has some of the dachstein boiled wool stuff. Have one of there sweaters for many years. Bit of a rabbit hole, boiled wool sweaters and other gear

I remember idk early 2000 you used to be able to buy the gloves and mitts from MEC ortovox? Not sure if they just rebranded

It is for sure, because of my size and long arms I have a hard time with used stuff, seems like the sleeve are always a bit short and the chest a bit tight. I’m 6’2” and a somewhat lean 235lbs
