I just Built a "Tactical" style hunting rifle. It did take 8 months to recieve but here it is.
on weatherby Mark V action. 30-378 Weatherby Mag.
Custom Mcmillan stock with titanium parts (hollowed out stock), jewel trig, custom Built Krieger 1/10" barrel. Tally base, Huskemaw Blue Diamond scope with custom dial to 1200 yards. bedding and so on.
Currently testing out 180grain Barnes TSX BT with Retumbo Powder..
ATM i am testing out different powders and bullet @ 100yards.. the best i got was .17" 3 shot.. but that was one time deal thing... most of shots will stay .5" but i do not use shooting mount or sand bags to shoot with it.
im sure Some people will say why the hell do you hunt with match grade benchrest rifle?? I specifically built this for both long range plinking beyond 1000yards for fun but also be able to carry around and use it as elk hunting rifle. The total package with scope weights at 9lb's so it is still on heavier side of hunting rifle but still light enough to carry around i believe.
The barrel was custom built to have the lightest possible match grade barrel so it is very thin for being " match grade. since most likes to have benchrest for heavier barrel. Im happy with the results + got a free water/shock proof case with it! lol
I have not shot anything beyond 600yards yet due to the "damn" snow in our side of B.C. but if anyone in kootenay that loves to shoot and waning to hit up mountains for long range, let me know!
