Huskemaw optics and the Best of the west clowns

Yep for sure stubble - I was imagining Ricky doing the voice, "You don't have to sell rocket appliances to know huskemaw scopes are boss. In fact I make shots at a half a mile completely stoned, better than Indianapolis Jones"

This thread is like a cross between the energizer bunny and fingernails on a chalk board.

Ok, these two are by far the best posts on this thread. I nearly fell off the toilet and broke the lid.

And I have to say we have a new classic thread; up there with "will a _______ kill moose?", bear defense, and "will __________ make a good first rifle?", we now have "Sheephunter vs the Interwebz".

These are classic.......

:p

The long range shots would be far more believable if they weren't all bang flops...nearly all their shots drop the animals in their tracks...must be those Berger bullets lol...I've shot numerous deer and elk @ under a 100 yds in the vitals and most of them hump up and run...not these guys though!

A lot of long-range shooters choose bullet placement that ensures the bang flop.

Oh you mean spine shots? Or their penetrating shoulders at that distance too? Bunch of BS

It's not like they are making them bang flop in the edit suite....with long range bullets, your penetration increases with distance (to a point of course) so knocking a shoulder hit animal down on the spot really isn't that surprising.

No disrespect sheep...but I would have to see it in person to even come close to believing it...turned me off of wild tv also a nd I never thought that could be possible!

Ok, I can't have this go on anymore.

Here is the truth...................

I was hired by Wild T.V. for the long range shooting episodes.

They aren't long range shots, just appear to be.It is actually me sitting very close to the game( I am a master of camouflage too) but out of view of the camera with my highly precise highly powerful equipment making the bang flops from close range. With a bit of editing of the sound it looks like a long range bang flop.

There you have it , the secret is out. ;)

It's definitely possible...bang flops do look more spectacular on television and in some cases having an animal drop on the spot is advantageous for a variety of reasons.

Do they call you on your cell phone to let you know when to shoot ;)

Never said it wasn't possible...and yes it is extremely advantageous...just highly doubtful it can be done 99% of the time...but it is made for tv so i guess it's true!

Anything is possible on television, if something doesn't go as planned, you just edit out what you don't want people to see.

Editing out is easy....adding in what didn't happen isn't really that feasible with typical hunting show budgets. No question there's things you don't see but it's not like they are animating the bang flops. These guys are killing critters...lots of them to make a 26-week series.

I doubt that anyone is suggesting that the shows are using animation to create the bang flops. It's more like, if an animal is flopping around wounded, due to poor shot placement, some shows will edit out footage, so viewers don't see the animal suffering. The end result is that editing out the less than clean kills ,gives the impression that the percentage of bang flops is much higher than it really is.

Most of us knew what you meant.

Yes and no....if there is no edit from the shot to the animal falling....it definitely bang flopped. I see a lot of those. I would hope the excess flopping in some shots is edited out.....no one wants to see that. But if you see an animal crater hard.....it bang flopped. Pretty hard to fake that. Not sure how you can make it look like more bang flops than there are.
