Husqvarna Sporting Rifles #### - ALL MODELS!!!

I have a very nice 3000 crown grade in 270.
For my type of whitetail hunting, I find the 23.58 inch barrel and soldered on front sight a bit bothersome.
What would you Husqvarna experts think about about making it into say a 20 inch mannlicher stocked 3000 crown grade?
Or a reblued 22 inch without the front sights , but retaining stock as is ?
Has anyone ever done something similar?

One of the 3 Huskys I posted above I have sent to the gunsmith for rebluing/refinishing of the stock, I had the gunsmith clean the sights off the barrel and put a high luster bluing on it so looking forward to getting the rifle back any day now.
I will post post some pictures of it when I get it back.

Maybe a "Husky" or "H-5000" be of some interest for Pete.
Pete, the 3000 you have is part of the 1640 series, so it gets a 600mm (23.62") barrel. The "Husky" or "H-5000" have a 560mm (22") barrel, so it's intermediate between the 1640 (600mm) and the 1600 (520mm) barrel. It's also more common in .270 Win than a 1600.

BTW, a lot of folks, for ease of understanding, use "1600" as the serie name, but since it's pretty confusing, we (HVA collectors) have decided to use HVA's own names for the whole serie; 1651, 1640, 1600.

Baribal:

It is my understanding that 646 rifles were rifles in the 640 series (built on either the commercial 96 or M98 or later FN commercial 98 actions) in 6.5x55, 648 were the same in 8x57 IS & 659 were the same in 9.3x62.

Were there specific model numbers for those rifles in the 640 series that were chambered for .220 Swift, .270 Winchester & .30-06?

To be picky and technically, anything built post 1941 and pre '46 would be built on the M/38 action (that's the action HVA made).
They seemed to have continued to issue some of the M/38 based 640 a bit later than that, but there's not many.

You are correct for the 646, 648 and 649. Then, later, I did not see there was any specific model numbers - but I'm sure HVA used some sort of identification. In America, the "post '49" models / chamberings were called "Model 1950" or "High Power" and "Model 1951"... later it became 1000/1100 in N-A... while they stayed 640 (and mostly beech stocked) 'til at least 1956 in Europe...

I enjoy reading this thread. When I lived in Alberta and B.C. I was a Husqvarana sporter collector for a couple of decades (approx. 1983-2005). I owned a lot of them......don't know how many, but at one time my collection included dozens of Husqvarna rifles of all sorts and quite a few nice shotguns as well (and even a few handguns). But I lost/found new interest and moved on. All are gone now (I kept two)... so all those great Husqvarnas are all out there somewhere. Probably many are in the collections of people on this thread.

Here is a stock that fits my 4100 but seems to be fit for scope shooting.

The stock differs from my other ones in the profile of the cheek piece and drop is much less, positioning my eye for a scope. I am wondering what this stock would have been on originally. I will attempt to get photo's up ....
I figured out the photo's, now I can post more if it helps?
PS the bolt release on both stocks is in the right position for the later model, or at least my 3 4100's, which range from approximately 200 000 to 220 000.

I can't be 100% sure without measuring them, but it looks like you have a very early 4100 stock vs a later one. The typical European "lightweight" (mod. 1600Std) stocks do not have a cheekpiece and fore end checkering, but they are shaped similar to the one with the German cheek rest. The "common" 4100 stock have an English cheek rest, like the 3000, but no MC, just a straight comb. Since both are fitted for the steel trigger guard, the "later" one is also of the pre-220 000 SN.

Hi guys. Only was I can show my Husqvarna is a link to the hunting forum I belong to in New Zealand.

http://www.nzhuntingandshooting.co.nz/f12/anyone-hunting-9-3x62-5188/index4.html

Scroll halfway down to Oneipete.

Any info on the gun would be Great as they are pretty rare here in new Zealand. Serial number is 278305

Now, I have an issue as well. Im a leftie and as you can see that stock is Not made for lefties. I shoot it but it bangs heck out of my cheek. I have located an ambidextrous stock - 1600 series, in Canada, but they wont ship it overseas. Sigh. Anyone know a way I can get it shipped ? Been trying to sort a stock for nearly a year now and little luck.

Otherwise im about out of ideas unless I stump up 2 grand and get a new stock made from scratch..

Hi Pete,

Actually, from the pics, it looks like your rifle started it's life in 1963 as a 1640 Std then received a new stock (stock is not original).
Makes a nice gun to shoot running pigs :)
As your stock is not original, I personally wouldn't feel ashamed of modifying it to fit me... Anyhow, I don't know the firearm import rules for NZ, but if they didn't change, you have pretty gun-friendly export laws.
Which dealer have the stock you are looking for?

Baribal, importing a gunstock is very straight forward, its a piece of wood according to nz rules, unless its for a super dooper restricted modern military rifle.

These are the guys that have the stock I am hoping will do the job. http://www.tradeexcanada.com/content/husqvarna-1600-series-stock-3

regards.

Tradeex, they are great folks to do business with 9.3x62Fan.
But, their good Husqvarna parts, will move out fast.
Doesn't pay to wait.

edit:
Put a hold on if you want it. If there are unresolved ship/import problems?(seems unlikely to me), ask a CGN'er with EMT to buy it for you now, and then re-ship to you.
