Husqvarna Sporting Rifles #### - ALL MODELS!!!

Japanese Tasco's are usually pretty good scopes. Why not drill and tap an fn mauser action? I actually prefer the original 2 stage mauser trigger, it is much safer and easier to maintain than a commercial trigger.

I always feel bad having any gun d&t that didn't come that way from the factory... modifying it from original in a permanent way I guess. The Tasco is a fine cross too which is a nice fit for this rifle.
Better put some pics up...lol
These are my favorite style hunting stock by far... narrow grip, wider fore-end, right LOP for heavy clothing, very comfortable for me.

The best value of 640 familly are the "Amercian" models, namely "1951" "Hi-Power" Deluxe and Super Grade and model 1000 ans 1100 as per they have this same type of stock - the 1000 and "Supergrade" have a MC stock with cheekpad - but in walnut. All of the 640 9except some late SN special orders) have beech stocks, even the so-called American model "1950" "Hi-Power"...

As per drilling and tapping a rifle, I can agree when it's something "rare" and "valuable", but as a collector, a d&t'd example can also fit a collection, as per we have two ways to see it;
collecting the rifles in "out of the factory" state, as as much "original" as it can be or
collecting the rifles with the life they had / have as a hunting rifle with all the modifications / alterations aftermarket parts that fitted on it.

To me, both ways are good enough and sometimes a rifle with some "improvements" such as aftermarket parts - which can, by themselves, be collectible - or even hunting "scars" can be as collectible as a "out of the box" example...

Well I've played with my latest Tradex purchase, a 1938 Husqvarna Model 146 with the FN action. There's a nice rifle buried under years of use and it was waiting to live a new life. Here's some before and after pictures which I hope will inspire someone else to give these beautiful older gals a makeover and a new home too. The 9.3x57 is a nice round to cast and reload for. It's even more fun to shoot.

It definitely had some work done to it....bolt race ways & feed ramp are polished, extremely smooth action on this one. Also has a small plate inlet with initials and date. Doesn't look like it's seen much use.

That's knd of mods I was talking about. If you find lettre and numbers stamped (under the bolt release lever, at the bedding, at the barrel channel inletting) then, you probably have a HVA aftermarket stock, which, n'y it self, is a collector item....

Decided to treat myself after 4 years of tree planting and got myself a bear gun. Super happy with my first TradeEx purchase, even if it needs some work done to make it perfect. Model 649 in 9.3x62 on an FN action, drilled and tapped for a side mount and has a cracked stock by the buttplate, nothing that an Oberndorf bolt handle, a few plug screws and a Boyds stock wont cure. Still one hell of a bargain in a heavy caliber I've wanted for several years now.

Very nice rifle, Loyalist84. Great caliber for your intended purpose, and as well as a very fine hunting outfit. You will be pleased with it. If not, let me know. ;)

I have the same rifle. Mine came being drilled and tapped for side mounts, but also the receiver bridge was drilled and tapped for receiver sight.

So, it wears a Lyman receiver sight. The target aperture is fine for load development, and with that removed is good for any hunting I will be doing out to 200 yards or so.

For protection and backup you might also want to consider having the barrel cut and crowned at 20 inches or so. With the front sight reinstalled, it makes a very handy and quick pointing outfit at that length. From personal experience can assure you that the 9.3X62 with that length barrel loses less than 50 fps when shortened from 24 inches.

you realize the safety is part of the trigger on a 1600? I remember putting a Sako A111 trigger on a 1600 back in the days of Camel toes and no bra's.

Yeppers, taken them apart several times....it says works with the factory safety in the description.
Single piece replacement works with existing safety, some minor fitting may be required.

I was wondering if anyone could help identify the model of my HVA - Carl Gustaf 6.5x55mm rifle? I have not been able to find many markings on it. The barrel is stamped JS.11.01 and 6.5x55. The serial number is 519099 and the bottom of the bolt is stamped 9099 (appears to match the serial number). Does the 51 represent the year of manufacture or the model in some way? Any idea what this rifle would be worth? Thank you in advance.

Since the pictures don't show (think about using a different host page than Photobucket) the only things I can tell you is that your rifle was mostly made of leftover Husqvarna parts at the FFV factory at the end of the run before they started to make their own (starting by "6"), so, no, the 51 isn't the date of manufacture, but the FFV code for the reeivers made at the "old" HVA plant.
Your rifle was made late '72 or early '73.

The 8000/9000 models are only found within S/N range of 350000 and 380000, the last of the "real" HVA around 373000 after that, they are marked FFV or FFV-HVA, then, FFV changed the names to Standard, Monte Carlo, Lyx and Sportskyttestudsare. HVA used 1970 name in Europe (see below).
Also, as per 8000 and 9000 were Tradewinds names, they are often stamped "9000" or "Tradewinds, Inc. Tacoma, Washington-USA, Husqvarna Vapenfabriks AB Sweden" and other variants. Below is a reopst that explains the links betweens models and production dates.

In Sweden, for the same period, they are known as being "1970" - "Standard", "Standard MC" "MC Lyx", '"Sportskyttestudsare"... it quite followed normal HVA denomination.

Then, you have the HVA-FFV-CG ones, caleed "1900" - "Standard", "Standard MC", "Lyx" and "Trofé" and "Sporter" - these have SN starting by "5"
The American and Euro models sometimes differ, though. You will rarely see a "Standard" or "MC" rifle here and the "Lyx"

Then, you got the CG made rifles, which ended up being called "Grade II" or "Grade III" and even "Grade V" and "V/T", "Continental I and II" "Swede" here, SN starting by "6"
In Sweden, they were called their "standard" names, so, Lyx and so on.

Now, for a Euro-NA comparison (but there may and actually there are some slight model difference)

For the "3" serial (HVA) - 1967 - 1969

Standard = none
Standard MC = none
MC Lyx = 9000
MC Special = 8000

For the "5" serial HVA-FFV-CG - 1970 - 1973
Standard = none
MC = Standard
Lyx = Deluxe
Sportskyttestudsare = V/T

All in all, with the "6" series; - 1973 - 1979

Standard = Swede
Standard MC = Swede MC
Lyx = Grade II
Trofé = Grade III
Presentation = Grade V
Sportskyttestudsare = V/T

Thank you Baribal. I am able to attach them now. I had scanned through some of the pages of this sticky to see which picture service others were using and saw a bunch of Photobucket. I didn't realize the bandwidth limit of the free account was so small. I edited the original post to now have pictures and below are the ones that exceeded the 7 attachment limit.
