Husqvarna Sporting Rifles #### - ALL MODELS!!!

I've been offered this rifle, it belonged to a coworkers father, he has no use for this one and is looking to get rid of it.
I know nothing about it and am looking for information, I don't want to rip him off any more than I want to over pay. And info on the model and value would be a great help.
Serial 102745

Tradex gets a lot of these in, I can't tell from the pics if it has a proper low swing safety, or if the buttpad is poorly fit or has a slip on? Also depends on the bore and metal condition, scope looks generic.

nagol,
depending on some details, such as if it's d&t for a receiver sight and the size of sling swivels loops, it's either a model 640 or a so-called model 1950 Hi-Power. Both quite the same thing.
It was built on 1949 and uses an early commercial "C" ring FN M98 action.
The value will be +/- 350.00 $

So here's my new-to-me M46 after a good cleaning and stock re-oiling;

From the first year of manufacture, 1927. Since they started at serial number 500 (or 501) then this is the 111th (or 110th) rifle made in 9.3x57.

M46_610.jpg

Drilled for side mount scope. Will have to find some plug screws.

M46left.jpg

This will be shooting cast lead bullets. My big plinker;

Interesting wood on this old gal;

Nice rifle you got there....
She can shoot jacketed bullets without worries... ;)

Hitzy; Is there nothing these guys don't have? I'll have them toss in some screws when I next order something to play with from them.

Baribal; I'll probably get some jacketed bullets and work up to a factory load equivalent too, but want to play with throwing big hunks of lead at moderate velocities. Sort of like a giant .22 on steroids. It should be fun getting a load to work with the fixed sights, but then those are the things that make reloading a new caliber interesting and challenging too.

I have done that with mine. At 1400 fps, it's basically a 36 Long Rifle, same velocity as 22LR, but with a bullet seven times heavier. It will penetrate 12" of green spruce with ease every time.

At 2000 fps it is a more-than-capable big game load for moose, caribou, and bear.

The plinker I prefer is a Swedish Rolling Block carbine (model 64-68-85) 12.7x44r pushing a 360 grainer @ 1150 fps...

For collectors to salivate ; The only one known Model 246 un-D&T'd recorded.
And unfortunately, it's not mine :D

Thanks for the reply. I have a rust pitted bore. Another question, gone un-answered though I spent some time on google - the 1900 must have been made on more than one action length? My .308 has a 3" long magazine, and the ejection port is approx. 3.16". I have a hard time seeing a 30-06 cartridge running through it.

Edit; I understand these were made on one action length. Looking closer I can see that if the relief machined in the bottom of the bolt were extended, the bolt would open further and with a longer magazine a LA cartridges would feed.

Seems you found your answer. There's +/- 0.044" difference on bolt travel between the .308 lenght and the 30-06 lenght, this means the bolt goes slightly forward, leaving room to eject a "06 lenght case.
