Hello, I’ve got a strictly Hypothetical question here.
If a Hypothetical person bought a Hypothetical Svt 40 and Hypothetically did some research into said Hypothetical rifle, and discovered that the Hypothetical rifle had a AVT 40 stock (the automatic version) [because it Hypothetically has the double safety cut out, and the big A stamped] that Hypothetically had a matching serial number that looks to be original, and that Hypothetical serial number matches the Hypothetical trigger assembly and receiver, also looks both Hypothetically original, (the bolt was Hypothetically electo penciled with the same # so I doubt it’s Hypothetically original) then would this Hypothetical Svt 40 be considered a CONVERTED automatic (the Hypothetical safety only flips one way and Hypothetically the rifle is ONLY semi auto) ? Or is there something this Hypothetical person is missing ? Hypothetically.

Thanks

Hypothetically, that person has to call mr. Smith from Canadian firearms center and ask him. He is the final authority in all things related to prohibited firearms.

Mr. Smith has his number in linkedin.

Typing hypothetically 18 times in your post, I think rcmp can read between the lines.

After ww2 Russia refurb the SVT with AVT stocks, extremely common. Also the rifles were originally stamped with serial numbers, electro penciling was done during the refurb process.

The safety on svt will flip only one way. If it flipped both ways you could have avt saftey, or a faulty svt saftey. But really the saftey means nothing, you would still need to see your rifle has a auto sear.

Your gun got returned with a brand new AVT stock, which was given the same serial number. I have one too. No big deal. As was said, be happy that you have a sturdier stock than the original

Hypothetically one would need to remove the piece of plum colored steel on the upper rear of the trigger group remove the Hypothetical safety selector and Hypothetically have fun... and Hypothetically put it back to stock.... Hypothetically
.

I don’t think it could be considered a converted auto, the AVT is made from a SVT. Obviously it’s impossible to know what the firearms lab would decide. Either way I wouldn’t worry about it.
