ok everybody...

i don't mean to do this everybody.... but my skills with the cgn search tool seem to be useless.

i am here to ask something about the norinco cq... again... so sorry, i know it's been done a million times.

a while ago i passed by a post by someone on cgn who did a pretty good range report comparison of multiple ar type rifles including the norinco cq.

it was done in a good format and organized well with various ammo types and distances etc etc.

does anyone know what i'm referring to and where i can find the thread?

thanks

Considering the hours of entertainment and amount of information I get from this site for free, I can deal with the "less than perfect" search engine. As for the OP's request, I looked back 36 months and couldn't find what you were searching for. I suggest that if you have a significant interest in a particular thread, tag it for future reading.

The change they made to the search engine changing the default to 1 week is really annoying. I'm forgetful, and get caught by it all the time.

I can't recall a thread like that. I know that awful and incorrect chart comparing everything to the Colt LE6920 floated around over and over again, but I don't recall seeing anything with a Norinco range report comparison to other makes of AR15s.

Put it this way... when it comes to range reports, ammo is the biggest factor. You simply can't compare AR15 X to Y or Z using the same ammo without expecting highly variable results.

Also try "barn spec". ;)

The Norcs can be a bit hit or miss in quality. However they are cheap and if it gets more people into black rifles because of thier lower price point than its a good thing.

Some people bag on the guns and claim they are crap because they are chineese, theres been plenty of crap ARs out of the US as well. I bet Norc is safer choice than a few of the low tier offerings.

They certainly can... the 'barn spec' comes into play with aftermarket accessorizing (your Dremel is your friend). Tolerances/specs can and do vary from rifle to rifle. I agree that there's a lot of crap out there - and not all of it is Chinese. I think something like an LMT, Spike's or RRA is a better investment as a "starter" rifle, but that's just my $0.02.
