I bought a “Norinco” SKS

It's a common misconception. Actually...NORINCO didn't manufacture any SKS.

NORINCO primarly exported the milspec SKS type56 and the commercial variants. After 1980-- when Norinco took over operations at the former arsenal /26\ aka Jianshe-- the rifles they "made" were already made or merely assembled from large caches of parts and components accumlated from the three decades of SKS production in China.

Amending previous reply to consider the possibility that NORINCO might have played some role in the partial manufacture or design of some of the very late commercially modified variants-- such as those models which included parts or systems that were not part of the standard mil-spec design-- like the shortened gas tubes, and AK mag wells.

This has me wondering, if it was originally imported as a pre-ban SKS, does that mean that it could be put on an NIA Form 6, or does the fact that it's been exported mean it can no longer be imported again?

Wherever it's from, it's a nice looking rifle. You should get a legitimate bayonet for it (not a replica) to make it complete. I can only imagine what it must be like with a drum magazine and full-auto. I can dream can't I?

where's a good parts source for these? I need the piece that locks the bayonette in place. It is the piece with one hole on top of the other and the slides over the muzzle to lock the bayonette in place.
