LMAO, Clarke, You guy are bumdart partners.
Gang rape at the hunt camp.

you can get an Adams and Bennett barrel for around a hundred bucks and about 70 bucks for the tools, and you have a switch barrel rifle you can take apart in your basement and reassemble in 15 minutes.

I odn't have a basement... Unlike the rest of Canada, we don't need huge basements to hide in during the winter months..We can still go outside..:)

I think what this thread needs is a debate about whether the Stevens hsould have been in 270 vs the 3006

I havent' had a .270 for some time, so I loaded up all my spare bullets for a buddy.

If I still had oodles of .277 bullets lying around, like I do .308 bullets, Imay have bought the .270, soince the 2 cartridges, in this day and age, have almost zero performance difference...:p

Bull####! LoL

Show me the 270 that will throw a 180 grain bullet at 2800 fps and I "might" agree with you. LoL

The only question on my mind is what your asking price is going to be on your 300 wsm once you realize what the old '06 is capable of! ;)

Rebarrel that 200 to a 9.3x62 and you will be impressed.286 grain bullets at 2500 that will handle any bear or moose you run into.

AH HA!!!

Just what i've been waiting for!!:p

With todays bullets, who cares if the 270 can throw a 180gr bullet at 2800fps?

An 150gr X bullet from a 270 will travel along at 2900fps, and I doubt very much you will see a difference in killing power betwen it and any 180gr bullet you use in a 30-06.

I have seen a 160 gr .284 bullet at 2850fps completley penetrate both shoulders of a grizzly bear...I don't think that a 270 with 150gr X would be much different, or that a 30-06 with 180 gr X would make that bear any deader, and that bear did a 'Bang Flop":)

With todays "super bullets" we don't necesarily need to rely on a heavy bullet to get the job done!;)

(And anyways, barnes claims thier 180gr Barnes Original .270 bullet will go at 2762 FPS, and that is pretty close to 2800fps. Even with a bit of fudging, I wouldn't be surprised if the velocity is close to that- 2700fps, anyway...):) ;)

And no, you won't see my 300WSM on the auction block any time soon. I have used the 30-06 and I wel now what it is capable of....It's a great cartridge, one that I often reccomend...But as you know, it's all abotu being KOOL, and the 300WSM has KOOL factor in spades, while the 30-06 is ...well...BORING!!! ;)
