I posted some information about my shotguns initial performance in another thread - http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php/1335068-Anyone-bought-a-BR-99-yet

Shot the BR99 two weeks ago and it has been sitting in the case since. Pulled it out tonight and heard a strange rattle. Something was moving around in the receiver. While turning the shotgun over to examine it a small piece of metal dropped out of the magazine well.

I did a function test and everything seemed to be working. Stripped the shotgun down and I couldn't see anything obvious. The colour and type of metal indicated that it was out of the trigger assembly. I finally spotted where it came from. The disconnector had a tail on it which had broken off just behind the disconnector spring. The tail would have gone over the safety. I Function tested the trigger and everything seems to be working properly. There is very little information online specific to this shotguns trigger assembly and I can't see what function this tail would perform. Since the portion of the disconnector that engages the hammer is still intact and the disconnector spring is in place everything is working.

I'll post some photos soon. Off to the local gun store tomorrow to see if I can order a new one and maybe compare my shotgun to another one to see if I can figure out if the disconnector tail had a purpose.

Here's the receiver.

As you look at it, the butt is to the left and the magazine well is on the right. The hammer is in the up or fired position. The disconnector is visible. The broken piece is from the left end and would protrude toward the safety cross bar.

The piece.

The large side is the side that attached to the disconnector.

On an ar15, that tail is only needed in the full auto variant. In a semi, it performs no function and most manufacturers omit that part of the disconnector. In your photo the disconnector Spring still looks to be held captive, so I'd bet it will still function ok. But unacceptable that it broke so easily imho.

Without seeing the gun, the one thing that I can't tell us if that tail plays any rol in the safety mechanism. Have you function tested the safety?

The shape of that disconnector leads me to believe the Turks must make a full auto variant of that shotgun.

Everything functions fine. When the shotgun is cocked and the safety engaged it will not fire. There is no play in the safety and its function has not changed.

When the hammer is cocked while the trigger is depressed the disconnector engages the hammer. When the trigger is released the disconnector releases the hammer and the hammer moves forward slightly until it engages the sear. The hammer is securely engaged until the trigger is depressed again. I have played with it by manipulating the hammer by hand and by dry cycling the assembled firearm. The disconnector spring is still secured in place.

The tail seems to have no function. A little concerned that it broke but as the shotgun seems to be functioning I can live with it. Hitting the range tomorrow to see what happens. Hitting the local gun store today to find out about replacement parts.

I'll measure the piece tonight.

I forgot to measure the piece. I took the shotgun in to the local gun store where I purchased it. They are going to contact the distributer on Tuesday. I didn't want to send the shotgun back so they took some photos and the broken piece. I am hoping for a replacement disconnector. It will be at least two weeks before I can get back into the shop.

I hit the range and fired 35 rounds of Federal Prairie Storm No. 5 shot. Shotgun and magazines function flawlessly.

Probably a part to secure the sear when on safe. Right now the safety prevents the trigger from moving but without that tail the sear can still move off of the hammer. When it wasn't broken it locked the sear onto the hammer I think.
