I cant decide !! 1911 / Glock17 / Jericho 941

oh btw any opinions on S&W M&P 9 ??

looks like I forgot to mention that one :/

Some people say the multiple back straps available fit the hands better.
Cheaper than a Glock. Range kit comes fully equipped for entry IDPA/IPSC including a Maglula loader.
Worse stock trigger than a Glock. One more step in the disassembly process.
Good entry level to mid range 9mm.

Get the glock or the 1911. I have a Jericho right now and I don't like how slim the slide is. There isn't much to grip onto, I much prefer my 1911 and my Sig's.

Thanks for the comments.
Any comments on the .22lr conversion kit for the Glocks ?? or the hell with 22lr and suck up the price of the 9mm ?
From my shopping around I see a few different prices for 9mm and found the refilled ammunition ... are these safe for use in glocks for range shooting? Or is there a specific cheap 9mm ??

Thanks

I like my .22 kit. I go shoot a few boxes of 9mm then put the kit in and plink away. Cheap range day Or cheaper.

My 2 cents, owned a Jericho with plans to run production, couldn't hit anything with it, sold it, run a Beretta now and do great with it (my personal choice) have a SAM thunderbolt I use for classic and I love it. Wasn't crazy about feel of a 17 but shoot great with the one I used, just my experience with them. Hope that helps.

Hi Everyone ... I cant decide !! 1911 / Glock17 / Jericho 941 (All in 9mm)

I'm in the process of shopping for my 1st pistol and its now almost a month I'm just turning in circles looking at reviews, pricing, availability.. etc ..

I dont have a huge budget so must stay under 700-800ish..
I'm looking in the 9mm with possible conversion kit to 22lr (This is a big plus)
In everything I do as hobby I end up getting into modding / addons .. I hear the Glock is very good in after market .. what about the rest?

Regarding 1911 clones .. would available conversion fit Clones such as Norinco ? (I searched over and over and never got a clear answer)

Any additional advise is welcome :)

Thanks

Like many if not all of us here......
Buy two or three or four different makes, models and calibers of pistols and select the one which fits you, which you shoot most accurately with...

If you think that somebody's 'advice' from a forum will put your perfect pistol in your hand, advice which nails the perfect fit, the hold angle, the recoil manners, the sight-line, which meets all of your expectations... well then you are mistaken.

Trial and error. Enjoy the ride,

Actually I can see that. I Glock guy might also like a Corolla. An H&K USP is more like a 911 Porsche, in that comparison. Which would you buy, the Corolla or the 911 if the price was practically the same?
I do love the USP in 9mm but I think a more apt comparison might be the Glock being a Corolla and the USP being a Camry. Maybe a P210 is the 911?

As for the OP, I would get nothing less than a Spartan or Ruger in 1911 or a Glock; I've never warmed up to the Jericho—why not get once of the various CZ75 models instead.

The factory sights the gen 4 glocks suck....sold it a day after I bought it.....didn't wanna change them out.....had the steel version and the polymer version of the baby eagle as well.....steel version is dead nuts accurate! Love that gun! On my never sell list.....have a colt rail gun and it's Lazer accurate as well.....bUT it doesn't really fall in the comparison between glock and baby eagle.....my suggestion is to grab aa baby eagle they can be found on EE for 5 to 600.....grab the steel one if available I love that gun....just my 2 cents

With some M&P's, if you slam the mag in too hard, the slide goes home on it's own. That alone would disqualify it for me personally
Alone with it's particularly bad and awkward hinged trigger with a very nondescript reset.
And I'll echo what others are saying about the Jericho how the slide is very tough to get a good grip on and the slide safety is very prone to be accidentally activated

Who cares about slide safety.....I've never used it in my life.....if I knew what I was doing I'd delete the safety on every firearm I own....furthermore the safetys on the Jericho are stiff after thousands of rounds thru mine I've never had it engage once

Apparently lots of people do... Maybe you don't, but according to many forum posts and youtube videos it's an issue for lots of others, Beretta owners included.
It's also not very comfortable to rack the slide on the Jericho since the slide serrations are very small and the safety takes up what little room you have to grab the serrations. The safety digs into your knuckle/thumb unless you grab it in just the right way. At least for me.
YMMV icelink, but to the OP, I'd suggest at least holding it and try racking the slide a few times and see if it's an issue for you.
Avoid buying things on the internet before trying them out. If you can't shoot them, at least hold them and get an idea how they feel. Everyone's hands are different.

YMMV... because I had a Norinco 1911 9mm that I shot until I wore the barrel out (I lost count on rounds, well in the 10's of thousands) and the rest of the firearm (excluding spring changes) including the sear and such were still awesome.

I have no clue what model you had compared to me though: mine was some of the earlier ones in Canada.

Mine was an NP-58 .40 calibre. Some little spring fell out and it stuck open with each round fired like it does when the magazine is empty. I totally understand that experiences with identical products/brands may vary, and unfortunately somebody somewhere will end up with a lemon Glock, hopefully that person owns it for fun and not to trust his/her life with.

This experience means no more Norinco for me.

Hi All,

OP I am in somewhat of the same boat, I have experience with 1911, S&W MP9, CZ75, and a Berreta 92fs, as well as some .22's I am now in a position to acquire my own firearm and was really looking at the Jericho, but one forearm that has caught my attention is the styer L9-A1 I have not been able to put either ion my hand and it is one of the reasons I am still "LOOKING" out of the guns I have been able to try I likes the trigger of the 1911, the fit of the Berreta I am hoping the Jericho or the Styer can do the trick for me as for the other guns the MP 9 was my least fav the CZ to me I did not get enough time with but the time I did get I felt the trigger was too light I like a trigger with a nice break were the cz had none it just fired :) anyway hope this helps and I hope someone with experience can chime in for the styer I have read the reviews and youtube vids can't seem to find anything wrong some PPL have camplained about the ejectore but that was on Gen2 M version the L version should be solid

OP, here's my 2 cents worth....I bought a BNIB gen3 G17 a few years ago to see what all the "hype" was about.

Out of the box it functioned as designed without any mods/tweaking required. Even the polymer sights did their job. After a few hundred rounds I actually liked it so bought more mags and a holster kit.

My G17 has seen the most ammo out of all my HG's. Has never failed to perform and shows very little wear. It's very easy to work on and parts are plentiful (if required). The first change (and only one I really wanted) were a set of steel sights.

I also had an Advantage Arms .22lr conversion kit. It worked well clean but in the end it got sold as it made my G17 feel too light (water gun) and changed it's shooting characteristics.

As others have mentioned buy a used G17 (gen3) and take it from there.....

Steel frame Jericho 941 in a 9mm. Add a GSG 1911-22, or a Browning Buckmark for shooting .22LR.
But the .22 conversion kit for the Glock makes it way too light, IMO.
In the times of the conversion kit for the CZ 75/85, made for the perfect set up.
