I finally found one!!! Heckler&Koch SL-7!!!

That's a nice find, I had one about twenty years ago and regret selling it. It was very accurate. A pain to handload for, the brass was always marked badly from the fluted chamber and the necks were always bent from the violent but very reliable ejection, make shure nobody is next to you at the range when you fire this gun because the empties are flung over great distances. The only complaint I had about the gun was it's weight, besides that the gun is an excellent design in my opinion and has a great reputation as a battle rifle in it's G3 wardrobe. The features are too many to list but a short list is: Poligonal rifled barrel, delayed roller locked mechanism with NO gas system, removable dust cover for easy cleaning, excellent removable scope mount system, excellent peep sights and good old German Craftmanship.
Good Luck

If that is non-restricted, than why would the vendor at a gun show I went to (who had one for sale) tell me it was restricted? I would have bought it on the spot if it isn't... and I'll give him a call right away to see if he still has it...

So... is it restricted or not?

It depends on the barrel length. The SL-6 (.223 cal) was 17.1" long and the SL-7 was imported with both 17.1" and 19" (I believe) barrels. Therefore, it is conceivable that the dealer that you spoke to did in fact have a restricted SL-7 while this one is non-restricted...

blake

PS - Steyrtac, I officially hate you. I've wanted one of those for years and have never run across one when I had money available. Very nice find!!!

Well, I will track him down and have him meassure the barrel... uhhggg.

What are these going for these days? Would people pay $1500 to $2000 for one if they went back into production?

PS: any chance of a look at the guts? I am curious to see the sim/dif compared to the G3
