The casing appears to be very nicely done. The loading mallet, turnscrew and capbox look to be high quality. The flask looks to be an antique, its not a style that I recognize. The mould looks like a standard Italian hand burner. French fitting is well done. Cannot really judge the quality of the hinges, lock and joinery of the case itself. The stocks themselves appear to be a very light wood - where it is exposed in the notches - finished with a tinted varnish. Would appear to be beech. The inletting at the rear of the trigger guard is certainly machine cut. Drawfiling and refinishing would have eliminated the proof marks. I suspect that someone put a fair bit of time and effort into making up a cased set. But I am quite confidant that the pistols themselves are not very old.
