So I was perusing the parts for sale for my SLR build and stumbled across this

Anyone else think this might work? I don’t expect a trouble free installation, for starters the handguard is 1.5” or so longer than the barrel, and it may need to be trimmed down to fit. But I think I have a project to kill the time waiting for my SLR. Any thoughts? Maybe a ceracote job once it’s all fitted up? I’m thinking black and grey. Also, it’s a black rifle part (sort of?) so I thought this would be the best section for it. Correct me if I’m wrong.

Why not just go this route?

Some ideas are meant to be forgotten, but on the other hand, as long as the modifications can be reversed give it a try.

Personally not my thing. Lever actions don't really need modularity, and attachment points for lasers, lights, or front-grips.

But, give her a go and let us know...

I did my own black lever gun last year:

Bad idea,

If you just want a rail for a flashlight, attach one to your existing fore end.

I could see replacing the skinner peep with a short section of rail that incorporates a peep sight so you have the option to mount a red dot or even a flashlight using an offset mount.

I like it. I'm no mall ninja type, and I'm no John Wayne fudd either. But I do support individuality and experimentation.

You would most likely have to cut the hand garde shorter to clear the take down leaver .
For me you wouldn't be adding thing visual to the looks ( its a short barrel bush gun ) there could be a weight saving but if you start hanging stuff off it it kinda loses that advantage and its charm . Again its a take down model will that hand garde even fit with out major Surgery for its attachment ?
Its your call ( your gun and coin ) Mossberg tryed the tactical leaver , dont believe it was a big hit !

It’s just a handguard change fellas! I get the purist angle but it’s a matter of changing the forend, no permanent mods to the rifle. I was thinking an action cam, dbal, light, 2 forgrips, glass breaker, maybe a bayonet. Do you guys think that will be too much? Maybe lose the action cam? This is the only traditional rifle I own, everything else is more to the black rifle side. Just want it to fit in. I rather like this similar rifle with the same handguard modified to fit. Flame away, got my big boy pants on, I can take it, besides if it gets too bad I’ll slap on my white sunglasses, jump in the raptor and go blast some appliances down a cut line! Oorah!

I have been looking for that rail, haven’t had much luck yet. It would probably get that too. If nothing else it seems to strike a nerve! I better do it! Have to practice my TIG!

I am a traditionalist with most of my hardware but I have a few quirky pieces also and I think that is what makes our firearm world go round..... To the OP, get busy man - I'd like to see the finished product and Uisge gave me the laff of the morning! I like that rig, no sh*t.....

I’m on it! I mean, all the hate, I’d be crazy not to go through with it! Lol

You could find something like this and re profile the bottom flat to sit on your hexagon barrel...

Yeah, I’ve been looking around for something that covers the bolt pattern (closely), I may end up with just short single rail section in the front holes and slap a reflex on there. Probably the easiest way I can find. Just need that magical rail section. Was thinking pistol sized, but an Eotech or Huey might get some more pitchforks out lol
