I got ping

Head over to YouTube. Search for Funker Tactical. Look through their posts/ videos and find the one with me in front....

M14 University they called it... that really was funny.

Search for my Glock bloopers... oh wait , I found it:

Now watch this one at about minute 4 or so... listen for the PING of my rifle... even minute 1:20 when I shoot the vase (yard sale purchase)or 2:37 when I shoot the octopus hostage taker...

And don't give me any guff about the hammer hitting the primer... I was sun fzcked at that point in the afternoon during the filming.

Have fun with the PING!! It's one of the indicators that your gas gun is tight and vibrating as ONE.

Cheers,
Barney

Well, now I know what Barney looks like, not what I pictured.

Well, my M305 does go ping . . . when I hit the gong :p

So what's the point of this ping ?
Is it just a cool noise or does it have a practical purpose ?

The 'ping' - if I'm correct - shows that the barrel and gas system are aligned in perfect harmony, causing the M14 angels to sing after every shot/rack of the bolt.

It is obviously a huge cool-factor, and an audible confirmation that yer d1ck won't fall off ;)

That's a fine looking rifle!

I have the same kit stashed away in a box, it's set aside for this rifle...
swap a few parts and I have a sharp pointy thing at the end of my battle rifle just like you

Unlike most Norc castle nut screws mine was so loose in the threads ...I did have it tight to start with..came loose I suppose when I was out shooting it ...never notice it till Chalkriver remarked about the pic first day of the post ...I put thread locker on it and it is now staying in place ...

thanks H2O I like it too

Please install your flash hidder properly. As that hex screw needs to go into the grove of the castle nut.

A) #### move, raining on a guy's ping parade like that.

B) Learn to spell. There's no such thing as a hidder, it's not a hex screw, and putting it in a grove is just a good way to lose it.

In other news, that's a fine looking rifle! My set screw came loose as well after a couple firings, so I threw a little blue Loc-tite on it; been fine ever since!

I got "Clang"

"hidders" eh, and "hex screw"s eh. Thats why I havent got ping.

In pursuit of the ping, I spent an hour on the back steps yesterday following the ping as I stripped and rebuilt. It went something like this.

1/ Big pile of bits on table.
2/ Tap Norc F/S......ping
3/ Tap barrel in various places....ping
4/ Tap receiver.....ping
5/ Attach FS to barrel.....ping
6/ Assemble oprod and bolt and tap ....sort of ngg
7/ Assemble rifle and release bolt. Tap rifle....clang.
8/ Pull bolt back and Tap......clang

I havent cried since I saw Bambi :(

Oh yeah..Well said, hate it when pple come and piss on your parade eh.

I could have sworn that mine pings but maybe it's just the clanging I'm hearing when it rechambers a round. I'm kind of an m305 newb. I guess I'll have to go put a few hundred more rounds down range and listen carefully.
