I hate 10/22's

Thats right, was handeling one at wholesale the other day and then it hit me...
That's what a .22 should feel like.
We all had one when we were kids in SA. Brno was to us what a cooey is to a Canadian

Just to tie things in, I bought a 10/22 off a CGNer and he did a great job contouring the body and it looks surprisingly like my Brno:

Now, I've yet to put a scope on it as I'm a lazy bastard and I have been having fun with other stuff. :D But, it's a good looker, isn't it? 3screwloose did a great job, imo. The Brno still has the better balance, though.

Oh, the Diana .177 is my daughters! :D

After nearly 20 years, I'm about done with 22s. Poor quality, and poor quality ammo have killed my interest. For the price I have to pay to get something good, next one is a 30 cal.

Try the Marlin 7000 or even an older Mossberg. :)

Looks nice but yes Brno get's my vote anyday

Cat

pussyman- Have you ever had a hot 22 casing get down your pants and burn your ####?

Rembo: I didn't say I wouldnt allow anyone to shoot one, just said I did'nt like em :D :D If you are out when I have the Scout Running. then all the shapnel can at least exit the truck without going down the asscrack of the guide!
Of course you are still welcome.

Prosper: Good to see we actiully agree on something! Auto's suck Bno's and Old Remingtons Rule.

As for Rugers, I alread have a 77/22 and love it, but my fiances kids have kind of adopted it.

You are damned right about the poor quality ammo. I have had batches of federal and winchester ammo .22 rimfire that wouldn't group inder an inch at 25 metres in any gun I tried it in. Eley tenex will leave a ten shot dime size group from most of these guns, Winchester T22 is almost as good.
Some discount .22 rimfire lots are good, while others are not with a looney sized group at 25 metres or a nice group with one or two flyers.
I've got the remains of a brick of I.V.I. target ammo that is more than twenty years old that will outshoot most discount ammo in all my 22 rimfire.

Try a Savage .22. I was going to get a 10/22 but they didn't have any in stock, I looked at the savage and like it because it had a synthetic stock with a stainless barrel and was only $249

Marlin

Try the Marlin 7000
Taking a Marlin 70PSS Papoose back to Wholesale tonight or tomorrw night. Defective. Going to get a custom crossbow made next, then probably a BAR in 30-06. That's backburner stuff though.

I like to use my .223 to precision whack the gophers, then when I'm letting it cool.... rain down the rapid fire 50 round drum mag "shock and awe" campaign.:D

I couldn't afford to burn that many rounds in any other caliber.

It is especially fun when the little ones are born. They don't know what's going on when they are clustered on a mound and start dropping like flies. Rapid fire gopher destruction!:D

As far as accuracy though......my single shot Cooey that belonged to my Uncle that died before I was even born...then belonged to my Dad, who shot it for many years....then to me....who's put thousands of rounds through it.....still shoots much better than my 10/22.

I own a 10/22 and an older 490 Winchester. Personally I find the 490 has a better trigger and is more accurate. The advantage of the Ruger is that I can fire several hundred rounds before it starts to "gum up." I now an after market trigger now installed, that is almost as good as the stock trigger on the 490.
But I confess to the 25 round mag addition!

My sloppy old 64b cycles ammo more reliably than my less than a year old 10/22...and 1/2 groups at 50 yards out of a stock barell is next to impossible..piece of junk, just has lots of parts that can make it better. thats the only reason its popular,i'm not happy with it at all

I would rate my top 10 reasons I hate 10/22s as follows:

1
  1. The dicks with them use up all their ammo spraying the countryside, then use yours
  2. Flying casings litter my truck
  3. Flying HOT casings have the nasty habit of going down my shirt/Asscrack or into shorts/ resulting in short tempers and blisters
  4. Their clips are always empty from spraying the landscappe
  5. Always have jams from using cheap 30 round Butler Creek banana clips
  6. usually cannot hit crap
  7. Owner is always defensive about poor shooting
  8. did I mention $&$*%^&^$^casings all over my truck?
  9. Generally quite ugly short units
  10. Scope mounts for the cheap bushnells are usually loose, causing even greater loss of preciuos ammo.

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

1. Any semi will use more ammo. Hide yours if you don't want to share.

2. Don't like casings in your truck? Don't use your truck.

3. Don't like getting burned by hot casings? stand on the left genius.

4. If their clips are empty that means theres less competition for you. This is an advantage.

5. Butler creeks are 25 rounds. No arguement on jams. I use the factory mags.

6. It's not the guns fault if you can't hit what your aiming. The most accurate guns can't help poor marksmen.

7. See NO. 6. Nobody likes to admit they can't shoot.

8. It's a truck, they get dirty. It gives them character. I usually sweep the cases out when I can't see the carpet no more.

9. Who say's it a fashion show. Pretty is for homo's.

10. Loctite is your friend. My scope mount isn't coming off. Ever.

Seems pretty simple to me. Now I'm off to spray the countryside in between clearing jams and reloading all the time, in the process burning my friends and trashing their car.:D :D :D

This is the ballsy, defensive banter I expected from the 10-22 users out there!
Keep the slams coming and the casings flying:D :D

and yes I do still allow them , just sayin I do not like them!

I banish 10-22 lovers to the back box, but they still piss me off
3. Don't like getting burned by hot casings? stand on the left genius.

:not when they are searching for ammo and wabbling my truck, thereby affecting my aim

:I use the factory mags.: smartest thing you have said so far:D 6. It's not the guns fault if you can't hit what your aiming. The most accurate guns can't help poor marksmen.
So you enjoy seeing gophers missed and excuses made, it is fun to make fun of most 10-22ers marksmanship though:D :D

congrats on your husbandry. I cant wait to see what your house /doublewide looks like

10/22

If you don't like 10/22's don't buy them.

If there is a better gun for less buy that instead.

One can not include a side order of common sense with every gun.

After the spraying is done the guns go back into the closet, and the accurate guns come out.

I like the 10/22 but I am a responsible gun owner and use mine responsibly. Not everyone grows up, so it will keep on happening.

There isn't a perfect gun, and there certainly aren't perfect gun owners.

I picked up my first 10/22 a yr ago and I admit I have done alot of mods to it internally....but I have never had a jam or any problems with the action. It shoots just fine for the gophers around here, or at least they have never complained to me about it.

Make the guy with the 10/22 sit on the passenger side...brass flies out the window then. ;)

:We're not in kindergarten anymore: If you want to spray around, bring a KARCHER and wash my truck We're also not in a country club so stop being so stuck up. I'll shoot however much I want

7. See NO. 6. Nobody likes to admit they can't shoot.Just thought I'd add that I've seen some expensive guns that make pretty holes in the ground all around the gophers. Can they still blame the equipment?

8. It's a truck, they get dirty. It gives them character. I usually sweep the cases out when I can't see the carpet no more.
congrats on your husbandry. I cant wait to see what your house /doublewide looks like You're the one shooting in your truck. Shooting inside a truck and not expecting brass is like going to a strip joint and not expecting t**s. My car is always clean. As is my apartment. I also will go on record as saying I've never lived in a trailer. I couldn't care less what my truck looks like.

Seems pretty simple to me. Now I'm off to spray the countryside in between clearing jams and reloading all the time, in the process burning my friends and trashing their car.

This is starting to get interesting.:D

Ten reason I like my 10/22

1. One shot one kill? It's no fun unless they go down in a hail of gunfire!

2. Lots of flying brass to distract the more competitive friends.

3. Magazines are cheap and plentiful so reloading happens less. When you do reload you can still piss off gun snobs by rocking the truck..

4. Almost every good guy has one so you'll always have something in common with new shooting buddies. If you do not own one what does that say about you?

5. They don't cost an arm and a leg so you can own multiple ones. You never know when a friend might drop by for some fun.

6. Aftermarket upgrades? Besides AR's and 1911's they probably have the most. You can turn them into evrything from ak look alikes to tack drivers.

7. Can't get much simpler to strip and maintain. A blind retarded monkey on valium could dissassmbly and reassemble this rifle.

8. Pisses off gun snobs to the point that they need to rant on gun forums.
Gives me something to write about.

9. Short stubby and ugly. Perfect for swinging around in a truck or lugging around a field. Function follows form. Pretty boys buy pretty guns.

10. Lets see more than 8000 rounds through mine and the only complaint is it wont use some cheaper ammos. Not to shabby if I say so myself.
