I hate that word “Leupy”

People who say leupold scopes are expensive, are either cheap or they dont have two pennies too rub together and have probably never used a quality scope.

Sorry guys and gals, Leupold scopes are not expensive compared too some others out there.

:)

Here, for the price of a Leupold, you can have the box this one came in:D

Whether they are expensive is a matter of opinion. Leupolds are a couple hundred more than some, and a couple thousand less than others. I think they are bargain relatively speaking. The Tasco/Bushnell crowd on one side and the Swaro/S&B/Euro Zeiss on the other side can feel free to disagree. I'm too cheap for the latter, but don't doubt the quality.

Leupold has excellent warranty service which lasts the lifetime of the optic as the more expensive ones such as S&B, Kahles, Swarovski supposedely have a limited lifetime warranty and only for a couple of years. I think Leupold has done well to back their product as compared to the rest, which tells you something to.

I have a couple, like them, but prefer my IOR Valdadas.....:D
My kid however prefers the simplicity of his 6X Leupold to any other scope, so the 10X IOR is comming off his rifle and the 6X leupold going back on.

I used to be a bushnell nut, but leupold makes a fine scope! If your on a budget or dont need so many minutes of angle adjustment 4200 are where it is at with 1/8 moa clicks. I just picked up a mark 4 today and I am so in love with it. My elite 3200 with rain guard does me just fine on my model 70 for hunting, but they just arnt geared for loooooooong range

Hmm... Leupold's in my mind are the 'value' scope, and are by no means expensive for what you receive, as such I have invested well over $5k in Leupolds. Still do not have a single S&B... :( S&B is also a 'value' scope, you simply pay for the value with limbs/firstborn. :p I just got sick of winding the turrets for 800 yards or whatever, and upon clicking back I find my zero's 'relocated' with the Bushnell 3200 mil dot and others... Paralax was an issue I encountered as well... But Leupy has relieved my frustrations :D

Andy,
I consider it not a religion, but an evolutionary process where individuals of the species (GunusNutis, Canadianus) go through a long series of adaptations. Failures and weaknesses lead the individual to either further changes or face certain extinction.
Charted visually the process bears an uncanny resemblance to the familiar "Family Tree". Leupold is the top of the trunk, with further branch adaptations possible for highly specialized uses. These special cases usually involve reaching into other continents. In their special niches the more refined strains rule, but when the special situation ends, the species inevitably reverts back to the main trunk. Tragically, most reach the highest branches just as their life ends. The term Leupy or Loopy evolved as a verbal way to recognize other members of the tribe.
A most curious aspect of the process, is the unwavering belief that improvement is unnecessary, impossible or unholy. Past levels are viewed with disdain, if their existance is even grudgingly acknowdged at all. Oddly enough, everyone is more or less happy with the exception of the lower strains whining for respect, and the top branches hoping for worship. Neither get it.;)

Thanks for the effort Dogleg, and you are right about the addictiveness of Leupold scopes. I recon if I would sew all my little green scope blankies together, it would make a nice large quilt.:D

So it's bad to say "Leupy" but it's okay to say "blankie"? I see.... :D :D :D

While I have a few representatives from other lines on some of my 22 rimfires, Leupold rules on my hunting rifles and my expensive 22's. I am particularly fond of that wonderful 6x42 for a straight up hunting rig. Varminters either get 12x's or 6.5-20's I have one old Leupold 10xAO on my 222 Remington. My 6mm sports a 2.5-8x VXIII, and my 7mm Mag a 3.5-10 VXIII. A cultist? Probably. but I don't see my policy changing anytime soon. Regards, Eagleye.

Actually, it being a German name and myself being of German decent and knowing just a little about the German language, it is really pronounced, "Loy pold"!

Sie haben Recht. ;) Being a name derived from German it ought to be Loy-pold.

I just pronouce it "overpriced scope" ....
They are only overpriced in Canada. In the U.S. they are priced within a case of beer of a Bushnell Elite, unless it's a VX1 and a 3200 (same price)
I shudder when I hear the word Loopy, makes me think of my younger days when I walked around wearing one of thier hats:rolleyes:
But I do like loopy better than Lee-o-pold
