I probably paid to much and I think the front sight is bubba'd a bit it's ramped and doesn't have a hood......
The stock is refinished and i think they call it sporterized the serial on doesn't match the one on the gun.

barrel is better then I thought it would be but the grooves are huge compared to modern guns...
brass buttplate

But I wanted a little piece of history so I bought it..

But I now have an Enfield... the bolt, receiver and magazine serial numbers match...

Where do I find info on the markings (which of the 100 or so are important?) estimate of a date? serial is BL193xx bolt seems tight could probably use a good cleaning...
says
Mk1/2(F)FTR49
No4Mk1

The whole thing needs a serious cleaning.. there is lots o crud under the peep sight.. If some of the experts put a value on this thing and I'll tell you what I paid after a couple folks weigh in...

Well, for starters, I can say that your rifle started life as a Number 4 mark 1. In 1949, it went through an Factory Thorough Repair (FTR) and was updated to a Number 4 mark 2.

As to value, without pics, al I can do is throw out a rough guess at anywhere between 100 and 150 dollars.

Nice to see some pics?

Um, not quite. A Mk I that went through FTR and updated to the hung trigger, would be a Mk I/2. The numbering is important - "Mark" one in Roman numerals, "slash", two in Arabic numerals. A Mk 2 is a newbuild rifle made by Fazackerly in 1949-54 or 1955-56. The difference is the presence (earlier dates) or absence (latter dates) of a square lump on the right side of the reciever just under where the bolt head when closed.

The BL###xx serial number makes it a ROF Maltby produced Mk I receiver. It should have the lump on the reciever. From the top view photo, I think it is there.

Looks like Switzers auction was good to you !

Only bought the one... couldn't believe some the prices the 94's went for and the deerfield was just Out to lunch.. seen better deals here...

Thought the prices on those Cooey's were interesting..
Next time I'll get there a bit earlier and not sort my list.. I had to look at the catalog the guy next to me had for the order....

Left as the XD45LE was up do you happen to know what it went for?

I was there. It was crowded. You barrel is cut too. I looked at that one, but with the cut barrel, it went off my list. Your missing about an inch or two..

That is exactly the type of bubba I would want if I was going to make a no 5 repro. It would also make a cool scout rifle.

Well I paid 110 bucks for it... I'll find me some ammo and see if it shoots... If it doesn't it's a safe queen but an enfield..
