im going to be fairly blunt here, im not generally a fan of .22lr, its just never really done it for me. theres nothing wrong with it but for me it just lacks the feel i get with rimfire, but there is a time and place for everything and i think i sould get a rimfire for plinking in crown land, and also i always take out friends and work friends who have never shot before, i keep a .22lr kit for a pistol only for them to start off with so it makes sense to have a .22lr rifle for them to try out as well. i lie intoducing people to the sport and everyone gets addicted. first time ammo is on me, 2nd time ammo is on them lol.

ive had a eye on the 10/22 takedown since it was announced, but i questioned its reliability and accuracy, how is it in comparison to the other 10/22's?
irunguns has one in camo but its about $100 more than the black one at lebaron.
anbd would you saw go with the tactical with the 16.5" barrel (plus the flash supressor(like thats needed on rimfire..)or the stainless with the 18.5

next, i was looking at the HK G36 clone 10/22 that irunguns has.
i like that its folding and can become fairly compact, but will it work with the butler creak mags?
if i ever decided i wanted to throw it into a more standard stock, could i?
is it cheaper to buy a 10/22 and the g36 stock and put it together myself?

next up is the SR22, love the look, but again... $543.. seems steep for what it is
is it cheaper to buy a 10/22 and a conversion stock ? i think i heard archangel was a good clone to it or they make them for ruger?

other question...
i saw someone selling some very short carbon fiber barrels, are these legal to keep it non restricted? and can i pop one onto the 10/22 take down?

is there anything that the takedown can not do that the other ones can (comparability wise) if i ever decided to, could i put it in a standard stock (loosing the ability of it being a take down obviously.)

I have a 10/22 in the Archangel Nomad stock. It was fairly easy to do, maybe a couple hours, taking my time, watching YT vids.

I DO have trouble with a couple mags...the aa922 that came with it, and a couple more I bought afterwards. I have Butler Creek that is not great either, although it's perhaps not broken in yet...it does seem to be working better. BUT... I now have the GSG 110 round drum mag, and love it! But not everyone has had success with this mag, so read up a bit more I guess. That definetly includes the SR-22 as well...folks say the mag needs some minor filing. I didn't need to do anything, it popped right in to my Nomad.

The 10/22 I used was, being the only one I could find this time last year, after a MONTH of searching, a 20" fiber-optic sight barrel and synthetic stock, so I paid a bit more than I wish I had...$300 I think, plus the stock was $208...

Two things to check though...I don't know for sure, but I think I remember that 1) the takedown version does not work with the aftermarket Nomad stock, and 2) because the Nomad is a folder, watch out for shorty barrels, you need that 26" when folded, because it can be fired when folded. I THINK (not sure) that anything less that an 18.5 " barrel, and you would have to "fix" the stock, which could be OK, depending what you want.

Again, I've had mine for a year, so my research is not fresh in my mind. Lots of folks sell the stock, but a good source, IMO, is Hical (sponsoring dealer), he knows these after-market socks pretty good...got his advice a couple times over what 10/22's can be used with what stock.

The cheapest bet, is just the standard 18.5" wood stock model...they were hard to find last year. Still looking at $250 plus $210 for the stock, at least, so it's comparable to the SR22 costwise I guess. But, yes, you can return the 10/22 to its normal stock if you tire of the Nomad. Then, ALL the mags work perfect.
Cheers and enjoy...great little rifles!

My 2cents, if you're wanting the nomad/maruder stock, look on EE. Every month there are atleast three or more kits or full gun for sale.
My guess is people are unhappy with either the mags not working, the total weight with scope/rds or add up their total cost and find out that they could have bought a different gun that shoots just as well for much much less!
Find a new 10/22 carbine, $300 taxes shipping in. Find the stock you like and have fun! Just so you know.
Most people shooting there 10/22s will upgrade their extracter and charging handle. Some will replace the whole bolt for a better aftermarket one.
And you are right an SR22 is an overpriced 10/22.The stock is metal but if you're going to swap it out anyway, save yourself $250 and buy a normal 10/22!
All these little things add up, so keep that in mind.

Oh, question about the take down, what draws you to it? If you like the compactness of it, you should really look at a keltec su22!
Folds, cleans far easier than a 10/22 and is less than 5lbs. Plus takes AR style 22 mags.

i just like the idea of it being very compact. easy to throw in a bag (or the one it comes with) when walking around in the bush and not having to carry much weight. ill probably also be getting a short barrel for my rem870 for the same reason.

not sold on the keltec, just not what im looking for, and the 10/22 you know all the mag possibilities out there. easy to find upgraded parts.

If you don't mind me asking, why not the su22?
The price is silly and if you add the great pistolgrip. It becomes a great shooter but very pricey. $650
However it folds, the bolt spring is in one for easy cleaning. Unlike the 715t it has two pins and folds like an Ar.
There is a AM180 drum conversion so you can have a 275 round drum.
26 and 32 rounds mags are the same price as the 10/22 mags. Plus the barrel is factory threaded.
Other than Vault having a monopoly and making keltec guns prices silly it's a good gun. IMO
I have a 10/22. Sold the wood stock, selling the factory barrel. Bought a tactical solutions barrel, axiom stock and upgraded the charging handle and extracter.
It weighs 3.75lbs w/ trs25 red dot. Could be an option if you like light and compact.

the keltec in a .22lr just doesnt interest me. i looked at it in the .556 as a non r compact bush gun but it still just doesnt do it for me.
also, if i get something other than a 10/22 ill just end up buying a 10/22 in a couple months anyway and both would probably barely get used.
