I Like 20" ARs-Does That Make Me a Freak?

I like all ARs, does that make me a freak or a youngling?

Still want more.....

I like your OD guy. I have a bushmaster full stock and ar15 a2 clone. Nice gun. Still unfired as yet. I'm getting more too.

The OD green one is an entertaining little gun:

Extremely obnoxious and not very practical, but a hoot to shoot.

Gets a bit warm sometimes:

It only took 33 years for it show up but my SP-1 is home. Readers Digest version, stolen in'83, TPS recovered it December 2014, lots of inquiring, months of phone tag and finally I picked it up this week!

Nothing like being reunited with an old friend you never thought you would see again!

Wow, that's awesome... glad you got it back! I had an AK stolen in the early 90s. Still hoping it'll fund its way home someday...

HBAR AR-15A2 is my ideal KISS rifle.

Lol---I "updated" my old Bushmaster version of the above by putting on a carry-handle C-more red dot!

Mr. Lawn Gnome, you are NOT alone. Dont forget, we were among the "originals". Then Iraq/Afghanistan happened and everyone wanted M4 configurations--dealers couldnt move their 20" AR's.
But take heart--there seems to be increasing interest in 18-20" bbls.:)

No...

Colt Hbar upper and Spikes lower.

The fixed Carbine Stock is just a bit too short even after Bubba added a fix, and the trigger sucks it. It works flawlessly though!

Gentlemen

This is an excellent thread!!

I have always been a fan of longer tubes. I have attended various carbine courses, and Have used them all the way from 14.5 and up to a 20" 308 AR, and I just like the way a 20" points.

Here is my current running and gunning pencil barrel:

And when I want to reach out and touch something, this it the 22" rifle I use

It is probably the most accurate AR I have ever owned [and I have owned a few ;-) ]

In a fit of stupidity I sold this one, then came to my senses an bought it back.

Ah the affliction it is to be a 'Nutter!!

regards and all the best

AbH

I've been a fan of the longer barrels for a long time. I wish I would of kept the Colt A2 LE HBAR I had to complete the progression of the 20"ers over the years.

Redshooter, I could never get into those collapsing stocks.
Even the C7A2 style. I just found it strange that I could never find a comfy position for that stock, with or without body armour.
Nothing seemed to fit me like the fixed C7A1 stock.
What is the sight you have mounted?

Derrob, I love the line up.
Reminds me that one of my 20"s is a Sabre Defense HBAR.
That barrel must be over an inch thick from receiver all the way to front sight.
I shudder at the thought of carrying it.

as far as 20 inch tubes go, take a look at what the Israelis have to say- apparently it takes 18 inches in a 1/8-9 twist to stabilise the 62grain bullet- so at least 18 inch isn't out of the question- and that's what the tavor is designed around

Your info is wrong. 69gr ammo will stabilize in any length of barrel with an appropriate twist. I have shot 69gr from a 1:9 twist barrel without issue.
