I like the Ruger Ranch Rifles

Cogburn has some ruger mini replacement sights that look like they might work but would require drilling of the barrel to pin the sight on. Could of sworn they used to have a clamp on version.
Rear sights aren't really a hard find that'll fit a pic rail - even low ones, hard to say if they would work together, but easy to lower the front sight with a file.

If you or anyone else ever gets tired of that blackout, I'll be happy to work somethin out!

I've said this before, but my Ranch 5.56 can shoot 10-round 0.8 MOA groups when I'm not the one shooting. I thought it was a *1.5-2 MOA rifle until better shooters got a chance to try. Turns out I'm the one that sucks. Even my wife can hit 1 MOA 5-shot groups with it.

*Edit: Wife read my reply, and I was not-so-gently reminded that my groups are actually 2-2.5 MOA.

Anyone paint their stocks on their Ruger Ranch (gen1)? Would any paint designed for plastics work?

I had a Gen II show up today in 300 BLK.
-The cerakoting is OK but thinner and rougher than a custom job.
-The stock feels dry and rough.
-It has a low bolt lift which is nice.
-The bolt won't close on an empty mag but if you push the follower down it'll close, however the lugs grind the follower when closing, so you should close the bolt first and then insert the empty mag.
-The empty mag takes a good shove to seat when the bolt is closed.
-The 3-position sliding safety is kinda lame, doesn't hit the detents well.
-It's a budget gun compared to a Hawkeye or a Scout but it's light and if it shoots well I'll be happy enough.
-The AR-style mag release button is half covered. Not sure why they didn't expose the entire button. I guess it has to do with the modular AR mag insert.
-It's easy to get a good purchase on the bolt knob which is a good size and the handle is long. Plenty of clearance from a low scope. It can be cycled fast.
-The trigger out of the box feels like 6 lbs and has a bit of gritty creep. I don't like these safety triggers and will find a replacement if possible.
-I need a better scope.

A half-round file or some deft sandpaper will work to make more room for the right index finger.

Yep. I used the Rustoleum super flat/camo spray paint and some leaves/grasses. First time I ever took a rattle can to a brand new gun, turned out great and has stood up well.

That seemed like such a silly oversight on the original version, I'm really surprised they didn't "fix" that on the second gen. But as others have said, it's an easy thing to modify.
