HEY CAMPY; nice avatar, obviously that hill was undefended, or there was so many xcr parts laying around up there you made a new one;

did you ever, for a second, consider that mom jokes aren't actually directed at your mom?

I have ranges all around my city, indoor and outdoor. It's a blast.

Look, in all seriousness, If you new me on this board, you'd know Im not a troll. But, when you guys clame the XCR superior to the AR when clearly it isn't, someone has to speak up.

The AR has decades of development and evolution on the XCR, it's just that simple. If the XCR survives 50 years of development, then I'm sure it will be great one day, but as of right now, it's a decent sporter, nothing more...

Get over it already.

you KNOW you are not a troll and some people CLAIM the XCR is superior to the AR platform. Everyone has a right to their opinion.

And i have been here long enough to notice you do seem to put down the XCR at every chance presented to you man, no offense.

Lets leave the mothers out of this...

50 CALSHOOTER : You say your not trolling thats fine, really I dont think you are a troll but the bashing of the XCR Is all for nothing . You shoot your ristricted AR at city ranges and that is fine , Most XCR owners use the XCR for hunting plus.maybe this is more the problem for you ?

Fair enough, like you said, everyone has the right to their own opinion.

;)

Oh trust me it's a problem, I wanna take my AR out in the bush sooo bad, you have no idea. For now though I make do with my Rem 700 soon to be TAC21.. :D

I dont hate on you cuz you own an XCR, the more guns the merrier! I hate when I here guys say the AR is inferior to the XCR. It's an insult, nothing more. The XCR as a decent hunter/sporter is great and all though over priced it still serves a purpose.

Dlask AR.
I'll take a RFB or a Tavor over and AR (based on status) or a XCR ( based on weight alone)
.50Cal, curious though - where did you pick up a GG@G cover for your 552?

Wow, just spent an hour reading the last 28 pages.....some interesting comments for sure!!

I had an AR and sold it to get an XCR, mainly because of five things; non-restricted, gas piston system, quick change barrel, accepted many AR accessories and it was a relatively new rifle on the market and I wanted something different.

Speaking from my experience with the AR15/M16 platform, I have used the C7 for over 15 years and am not overly fond of it, but, if it's maintained as in inspected by the operator and weapons techs, kept clean and properly lubricated for the environment you are using it in, it works well, and is pretty accurate in the right hands, I have to admit.

The C7 gets the crap beat out of it on the range, on exercises and every time it's taken out of the vault. I have seen it beaten a lot and it's still holding up. In terms of cleaning, it doesn't matter if you fire one round or 500 rounds, you have to spend almost the same amount of time cleaning it. (This is for the direct gas impingement systems.)

It has some flaws, but most have been fixed and more fixes are researched for it all the time. The Elcan sight isn't my favourite, hence why my XCR has an ACOG Compact 1.5x on it :) I do like the EOTECH as well.

But getting back to the AR platform, it is versatile and has more accessories then any other platform I know of. It had it's teething issues in the beginning as well, just like any new product put out on the market. Now if we compare the first A1 rifle to the AR rifle currently available, there it little to no comparison at all.

A properly built AR with good quality parts that work together makes a very nice, reliable, accurate rifle. I have been thinking of buying another AR receiver and building a great rifle. But due to HST and buying a house and having a family, my shooting is somewhat on the back burner for a while, so I will shoot what I have and enjoy it.

My XCR is fun to shoot and is very accurate, using it in IPSC matches with 10rd LAR15 mags is a hoot!

just my .02 worth

All my small parts come from brownells. ;)

It's not a Dlask AR, LMT MRP Upper and ATRS Lower

Yeah, I guess if I looked more close - I could see the "Lewis Machine & Tool" under the rail.
Interesting, i've been trying to find one for a while. I thought they were a controled good? Is yours actually a GG&G cover?

GG&G, theres tons of small parts you can get from brownells, give it a try...

Oh wait, I just remembered.... It's not the GG&G cover that's a controled good (for the 552 anyway.) it's controled for the 553, which is the one I need. Non-the-less, i'l give them a call first thing monday, thanks.

Big shooter, you must have overlooked the part where I make the exception
of the charge and bolt release. The Ar is the only rifle
to locate the charge handle in such a rediculas
placment. I get in and out vehicles, on and off
of atv's, sometimes with thick gloves. I tend not to release the bolt until in on target and I know I'm going to make a shot as it gets tiring constantly ejecting an unfired round IMO my hand and reloading it into the mag. I find it so nice to be fully in firing position, releasing the bolt with my trigger finger. When carrying on foot I tend to leave the chamber empty, I like being able to rack the bolt without removing my hand from the grip. These are big deals to me.

hence why most new black rifles (and some oldies for that matter) have the charging handle on the bolt, or forward to allow for more ease with usage of the firearm. and a definete one up the xcr and many other rifles have on the AR platform.
