I have been around guns a very long time ,i know more about some then i do others i will be the first to say it, but i have had them all at one time or another including full auto sub machine guns, When go into the shotgun forums and see
single shot shotguns with prices of $130 and up not in mint condition ,thats a noodle scratcher to me , No single shot shotgun is worth over $ 120 of anybodies money And for $130 she better be in the box she came in with no fingerprints on her, MY goodness is everybody gone nuts ?? do people really pay
them kind of prices for an old single shot , One dude on here wants $160 plus shipping for an old CIL which was one of the worst singles ever made worth $60 bucks on a good day plus he cut the barrel half off, NO WONDER I DRINK ,I must be missing something

Its only cause the new "thing" is making sawed off single barrel shotguns and calling them "survival guns" Most gun prices on the EE only reflect what people on this site are willing to pay, and those are trendy right now. Did you know that if you take a regular 870 express and you tacticool it up the ying yang its worth like $800? :p

i agree with you the prices have been way out of line on many of the guns on the EE .but thy are worth what willing buyer is willing to pay .you se the older pump shotguns for sale for more then a new one that comes with screw ins amd are magnums like winchester 120s and wingmasters no rib no chokes only 2.75 inch chambers and thy want more then a new gun for them DUTCH

What makes that shotgun worth 6G's? It's made the same way and from the same material that all other shotguns are made of. It looks like a $150 gun with a $5850 sucker tax on it.

It seems people only think what they have is worth money but what ever someone else has must be extremely cheap.

People have become enamoured with gadgets, its a human condition, we all like "bling on our thing" type of deal. Couple that with what others have mentioned, the "fad of the week" everyone gotta have one kinda thing.

The market has gone crazy lately, but you can still pick up a good used bargain every now and then. I cruise the gun shows like most people, and the thing that amazes me is the cost of ammo. It has surely gone crazy, much more so than the price of guns.

By god i think you just hit the nail on the head , Thanks for all the comments i guess i am not the only one who see's it , prestwich also nailed it ,i have seen this type who think what they have worth a fortune but what you have is just worth nothing until they get it then out of the blue it's valuable again, funny how that works , I keep a list of these types as i find them i right them down and when i see something that catches my eye ,i go to my IDIOT list to see if they are on it if they are i don't waste my time. I know 80 percent of the guys on here are decent honest types so i guess ya just sort through bad to reach the good ones and i expect i probably stirred up a :nest:but this needed to be said.

What makes a Ferrari worth more than a Ford?

Well let's put it this way......... people buy the steak but you sell them the sizzle. That's why people go to a restaurant. Be it tacticool/bling add ons or calling things rare/hard to find/desireable or collectible..... packaging packaging packaging!!!!!!!!
Hopefully most buyers are discerning enough to see though it, that or they have too much money (no such thing .... just like too much ammo:D)

Like an old sales pro I knew taught me ..... never buy a car in a showroom with a crystal chandelier!!!

I agree though that many people think your stuff is junk until it's their stuff .... human nature I suppose?

Just my $.02 worth

To some a 68 camaro was a piece of dung on the way to be a rust pile the day it was born, however you think its worth attaching as an avatar nom de plume. If someone wants to spend 6 grand for a trap gun rather than 60.$$ he has his reasons and knows that the materials, manufacturing and design are much superior and probably has enough experience to warrent owning it.

I've been around humans a very long time... still can't explain why anyone gets their panties in a knot because of prices on the EE... if this is all you got to whine about, you must have one soft life.

Seller sets a price. You decide if you want to buy, negotiate, or walk away. Seems real simple...

I'll take as many of these single shot shotguns as you can find me at $120 in almost any condition. Especially 16 or 20 gauge!

My Kolar trap combo was just over $20,000 CDN when the insurance company replaced my original one that was stolen along with my truck. Bring your old CIL and 2 flats of 12 gauge shells and we will spend an afternoon together shooting 500 targets each. After that you might see some value in a higher priced shotgun.

Well i guess i should have excluded $20.000 single shots :D in the beginning of my original add , so no offence to those of you have these although for me thats not justified and can't be , And i don't recall ever saying i had a CIL amongst my herd , Buddy i don't know what your Kolar trap combo is all about , combo does not sound like a single shot to me and thats what this thread was all about, And i am not saying i can't afford one of those cause that would not be true , However when the day comes that i pay $20.000 for a single shot or whatever guess what ?? for $20.000 i will sit on the couch and the gun will go by itself and let me know how it made out when it gets home.
I stand by my add

A Combo consists of a Stock with an O/U action a set of O/U barrels and a single barrel. Weather it is an un-single barrel (firing off the bottom) or a top single barrel (firing off the top).

It's the buyer's own fault. :D They keep paying outrageous prices, so other sellers follow suit. A vicious circle and firearms are a desirable commodity.

Let me be the one who takes your gun to the range while you sit on the couch. I'll call ya. You'll never know the fun you missed. lol:p

I think the point he was making was theres some outrageous prices in the EE. I was looking for an M-14 until i seen people are selling them for what they payed for them or more after putting a few hundred rounds through them. Just a trend, I geuss. I personally bought the most expensive tactical shotgun my dealer had. Why? I liked the styling, features and feel better than the others. Doesnt mean it works any better or worse, I just like it. My father shoots trap and has some very expensive trap guns that by far outshoot mine, but my Benelli fits my needs as a defensive weapon. To each his own.
