Several sponsers here have s&w 629 for sale.
My question:
4.2 or 5 inches barrel ?

I have a 686 Performance Centre 5 inches and it is perfect.
What about 44 mag ?

I need a .44 :)

Love my 629 4.2, very comfy to shoot and as a newbie, i can put them all inside 3.5 inch at 10 metres shooting in DA... JP.

Next year it is gonna be the 460 !

I remember a thread here about a blue one with a lot of engraving. Can someone help me .
I don't remember wich dealer it was.

I have a 4.2 629 and a 7.5 Redhawk. Love them both. If i was to have only, I'd probably go for a 5.5 inch Redhawk. There are some new ones available at the moment.

When i order a bigger one, it's gonna be a Freedom Arms in 454 Casual Premier, Clay got a couple gorgeous ones in stock... JP.

as we cant carry them I see no value to the shorter barrel length. I have a 5 and a 6.5 and I am very happy with both

True. I know the 5" 629 is a very nice length and weight and a more comfortable shooter, but the 4.2 is a really nicely balanced gun. Perfect for lighter loads and 44special.

Frankly I kind of like all barrel lengths between about 3 and 9". Short ones can be a good test of abilities.

Does the 7.5 delivers smaller groups at 25 meters than the 4.2 ? You know the longer line of sight thingy.

I want a DA/SA revolver.

2 years from now it is gonna be the .500 s&w :)

Would you choose the nice length or the nicely balance gun ?

That is the info I want.

Generally, but with practice and good concentration the 4.2 can get pretty close at 25. I notice more of a difference with the longer barrel beyond 25m. Also the Redhawk is double action. The Blackhawk is the single action.

I don't like a handgun with a barrel over 6 inches because it seems to me it starts to get unhandy. But in the .44Magnum I wouldn't be inclined to go much shorter. That's one reason I got my Redhawk with the 5.5 inch barrel.

If you are using factory 44 mag ammo, and you want to stick with S&W, you should probably go for the 5 inch length. The 4.2 does get a little fatiguing with factory 44 mag.

If i had to compromise and couldn't get the 5.5" Redhawk, I'd get the standard 6" 629 (I don't like underlugs).

Ok guys. I'm sold to the 5 inches.

Do some of you know the dealer that ad the blued one with lots of engraving.
If not I . I will go with the plain Jane stainless one.
I like prefer out of the norms guns.

Oh. BTW. It is a 99/100 because it as fired only 6 rounds and it is a 1981 in like new in box condition. Rare Python.
