Finally, after 6 months without, I'm in the market to replace my S&W M&P9 that I was basically forced to sell (long story, interesting, but long). I've been looking at the Glock 17 gen4 and the HK P30L.
My mind was basically made up on buying a brand new Glock gen4 based on the reputation of the previous 3 generations being very reliable guns.
Then, of course, I hear all this noise on the net about the new Glock's dual recoil spring causing all sorts of problems, effectively compromising the gen4's reliability, but of course I also hear lots of people swooning about how much they love their gen4's. WTF??? Is it awesome or does it suck??
Basically what i'm asking is, and I need a no BS assessment from people who own/have trigger time on a 17 gen 4, is it worth buying?(and no I don't feel like waiting weeks for Glock to send me a new RSA) Or should I suck it up and pay almost double for a P30L, that I've heard nothing but great things about?
And before I get a bunch of people telling me to buy a sig, cz, sr9, etc. I've looked at those pistols and am not really interested but thank you. Also, though I loved my M&P9, it's kind of a been there-done that scenario for me. I also prefer to buy my pistols brand new, not from the EE, don't know why exactly, I suppose I'm just a shallow person.
