I need CGN's help with a decision

I think your application sounds like XCR territory. I personally think none of them are more homely than the other, save for maybe the KRISS~not a fan. Can't think of where you can legally hunt with pistol calibers in S. Ontario either. Tavors (I've held one, never shot one) strike me as being awful for anything but offhand shooting. The XCR (and I just got one) is a very decent rifle for varmint hunting so far, and I like the ability to add a bipod and shoot prone with it. I have no experience with Swiss Arms but in all honesty, the XCR was the upper limit of my budget to put it mildly...so they'r'e out of my league anyway. I just posted a photo of my XCR in the "Was" thinking of a Robinson thread if you'd care to have a look. I'm very pleased with it.

I actually just looked at your thread about 20 minutes ago! I don't mind the ergonomics of the XCR I have held one before, I just can't get over that barrel sticking out as far as it does. I have a CZ 858 and I put a fake suppressor on it because it looked so bad with the long barrel, our laws are so stupid. I like the Swiss because of how the barrel doesn't stick retardedly out from the hand guard, but I know they are heavy beasts, I have shot a CQB before and even it was heavy. I don't mind heavy. The problem I have with the Swiss is that I would have to buy the NEA lower for it to accept STANAG mags and that is another 500 bucks on top of a $2,800 rifle. I would actually probably take the FAMAE 542 over a Swiss just cause the .308 is more apropos for hunting larger game (could dispatch a few raccoons and opossums with it too if I really needed to, hell of a mess to clean up afterwards though). I dunno I am leaning more towards a Tavor mainly because of all of TV's videos and stuff, but if I can get a NR ACR done for the right price and if someone would help me with the restricted thing because I don't have one I might lean more that way too... Such a hard decision haha

I got the XCR, the barrel might seem long on a "black" rifle but it's shorter than most hunting rifles. Also I like the option to switch cal. in a few min(less if you are in a hurry).

Had an XCR-L in .223. Shot it with an ACOG 3.5x zoom under 1" at 100 yards. Very nice to shoot and never a hitch. Sold it. Kicking myself.

Have a Non-Restricted Vector. Shoots very reliably with minimal recoil. If I bought another it would be the restricted version as the non is all barrel. Didn't care for Norc ammo.

Have a Tavor and love it. Super comfortable, easy to use, battle rifle. I'd consider it to be on my go-to list.

Never shot a Swiss...*single tear*
