I am buying a new varmint rifle and need some advice. My choices are the new Ruger Mini 14 Target laminated stock .223 or Howa/Knoxx Axion Camo synthetic stock .204 What should I buy.
Thanks, Calvin.

Thanks, Calvin.

I am somewhat surprised to see target/varmint and mini 14 in the same sentence.

Neither, but definitely not the mini 14. If you pull off the plastic cover you'll find out that the "heavy barrel" isn't so heavy once it goes inside the stock--- LAME!

this isnt the '80s -- the new Mini Target is capable of sub-MOA groups. by the time you get an AR shooting like it youll be over 3x the price and its still restricted.
as for the barrel: no its not a straight contour for the entire length but theyve thickened the original Mini barrel up significantly even underneath the gas block and oprod.

the Knoxx Axiom is the most hideous abortion of a gun ive ever seen. it looks like one of the 'leet tactical 870 crowd had their way with a bolt action.

Have you checked out the new Remington 7615? It's a pump action in .223 that would make an awesome varminter I would think, though I haven't tried it yet... only looked at it at wholesale sports, before opting for my Tikka T3 Varmint instead. Looked interesting though, mainly because I think you could legally use the 10 shot clip as it's a pump action... correct me if I'm wrong (I'm sure many will if I am!!).

No. How are you getting this feature? The only spell check I have is if I go through my WORD software.

im using the Mozilla Firefox browser, it has a built-in spellchecker.
you really should be using Firefox anyway, its a much more secure browser than IE. the integrated search and tabbed browsing is far superior to IE as well.

http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/features.html

there are also hundreds of free add-ons that let you customize it and add features, a few of the more useful ones:

NoScript (automatically blocks all scripts on a webpage you visit and lets you allow them permanently or temporarily. something like CGN you can allow permanently, other less trusted sites you can see the list of scripts that are running and choose to allow them temporarily or not at all.)
SessionManager (saves all open tabs/pages if you close browser or it crashes)
StopAutoplay (makes all media not play by default, you have to press a play button to start them)
DownThemAll (download helper, great for downloading image galleries automatically)
DownloadHelper (lets you download .flv movies from youtube, etc)
FlashBlock (replaces all flash with a play button so you can decide if you want to view it or not)

I didn't know this was a spelling bee. I guess some of you don't know anything about guns. Get a life.

Don't tell them about Firefox! Everyone thinks I'm a genius because I can spell properly in my posts... now the cat is out of the bag! Thanks a lot!

Seriously though man, I know guns are about personal preference, but I think you should look at some other varmint rifles than the two you listed, but if you like them that's all that counts.
