Hi guys, its my first gun buy and I need your advices for make my choices. I can get both at the same price.

Ruger Mark IV Competition

Or Ruger Mark IV Hunter

http://ruger.com/products/markIVHunter/specSheets/40118.html

What you guys would choice and why ?

Thanks for the help !

I bought the Target, only because it was all I could find at the time other than the standard (plastics framed) model.
I probably would have got the Hunter, if I had the choice.
Know that the Target is fairly heavy and I assume the hunter would be more so.

Buy the Hunter and if you decide you don't like it, I will trade you my Competition......

Hi TeeJey thanks for your answer ! But do you have a Competition or Target ? (Im not looking for the Target model)

Oh , I was unaware of that model...... I just checked your link. Mine is the Target.
That competition looks pretty nice, I would choose that one.

Wooo, tough call. Both look awesome. Love the fluted barrel and also like the slab side. If you're a lefty, the Competition grips won't be comfy.

Hi Trinimon, yeah thats exatly the trouble both look awesome I cant make a choice :p I have look at the specs but that seem to be lthe same for me (im a nub) I know the hunter model have Fiber Optic vs Grip for competiton and no fiber and im not lefty so im ok with both.

Thanks agains for the help !

My choice is the Hunter with the fluted barrel. I have a Mk III 22/45 with the fluted barrel and fiber optic sights.

Although the grip (with thumb rest) of the Competition looks nice (but may or may not fit your hand).

Either way, one button takedown of the Mk IV is a bonus.

Enjoy whichever your purchase decision becomes...

I have had both. For me I kept the slab side because the sights on that one are better for target shooting. The rear sight on the hunter is not a square notch but rather a V type sight.

I selected the Ruger MK IV Hunter with Ruger's target grips (see my post on this forum titled "The Latest"). It's an excellent target pistol.
