I need your opinion . 300 Winchester mag

Shoots like a 243.
Makes big holes.

X2 my 300 mag BAR has surprisingly less recoil than expected.

saskcop is right on the money, I've always thought of it as a heavy duty 30-06.

If your shooting (hunting or target) constantly requires upper-range 30-06 performance, the "typical magnum problems" of the 300WM might be worth it.

But if you are hunting and you stay inside the MPBR for the 300WM, the ballistics don't yield much advantage over 30-06 except with 180gr bullets and heavier.
