So as title says, I tossed an ad on kijijiasking ifanyone was having problems with coyotes and other predators on there land. Figured maybe some farmer might want to let me shoot some coyotes or wolves on there land. I didn't offer to do it for money and i didn't offer money to hunt on the land. I was very limited on details as I figured I would offer that info in email to who ever replied. Anyway, here is a response I got tonight.

Hello,

My name is Michelle ######x and I'm a freelance journalist currently doing some work for the Whitecourt Press. I'm interested in learning more about your services. Is there a number where you could be reached at. Thanks, Michelle

What should I do here.

After much thought, I think you should ask if she would like to go to a range and shoot some targets. If her answer is no, then her agenda is clearly anti. My betterhalf looked over my shoulder and said "that sounds dangerous"!!

Next time go out and meet some farmers, its way more interesting. I did and got permission to hunt yotes on 80 quarters of land.

First though was Don't answer. You will not like the outcome. You would be a "story" truth is irrelevant. But later switched to above.

advise her that you wish to contact her and request her number. I wouldn't provide any media folk with my phone number until I knew what they were all about. If she requests an interview, ask her for her list of questions first (in order that you may prepare proper responses). If she balks at any of this, I would kindly thank her for her interest but at this time decline an interview. It's also best to meet in person if your are going to provide an interview and take a tape recorder yourself in order that her questions and your responses don't get 'edited' to suit an anti's agenda.

That's exactly what i was thinking, except the.questions in advance. Meet in person and i will be recording it on my phone the whole time.

See if you can get some pics of her. Preferably jooblie pics if she's got some nice ones.

either ignory it or try to be an ambassador for the heritage of hunting
your choice, this may be once in a life time chance, no need to assume she has a malitious intent, personally i would 'probe' it a bit with few questions before answering ;)

Agreed. We cannot hope to change the minds of those who oppose hunting by putting our heads in the sand and hoping they go away. If anything, it will only get worse. Stand up for hunting as an essential element of conservation, measure your words, be courteous and respectful even if you can tell she does not agree with your views. Its the very least we can do.

Some of the press has been pretty unreliable they like a story that they can sell and have twisted facts where they can ala Mcgregor.. She may well be honest BUT she may not be

I would invite her to the range and let her take a few shots....... that would tell me if it is worth doing an interview with her.

Tread with care however if she can write a positive piece about a bunch of douches tearing up the countryside on loud obnoxious death machines there may be a positive outcome here...
