I think I saw a wild boar/feral hog today

ANd great chew toys for dogs - but I guess they are better when removed from the pig first?

Yes I have given our dogs a few ears among other parts , although my big Danebull has had a few live ears in his mouth when corralling escapees over the years;)

I said that there is no way that he could tell by looking at them if they were a domestic pig or not, there are wild boar farms for meat in Eastern Ontario.

That being said, animals tear out their tags all the time, the cattle in the pasture behind us had huge rips in their ears from having the tag ripped out.

Im not disputing anything you are saying, but im still not seeing the issue?

What ever animal they are, if they are on private property you ask first.

If they are on crown land they are fair game. (obliviously you use common sense) But if you make an honest mistake, on crown land, I'd side with the hunter.

Yes, you always ask first.

My point was always that to say that you could tell it was not a domestic pig from looking at it is impossible as Eurasian Boar are being raised for meat and therefore domestic in Ontario and specifically in Eastern Ontario.

Bearbrook Farms comes to mind.

This is getting sidetracked, but I go to Bearbrook fairly regularly and have not seen boars there since they moved. In that area, there are a few deer operations (red deer, reindeer), but I've never seen even domestic hogs up and about. Either way, I only posted as an item of interest. A sustainable population of wild pigs, either feral or boars would be disastrous for the farmers in the area, whatever us hunters may secretly think.
