I though Tavors were "inaccurate"

I have noticed my Tavor is fairly picky. Likes IMR 4198 powder, shoots O.K with varget. Shoots like crap with AE 55gr 5.56.
Now battle rifles are not know to be accurate but a large majority of rifkes used by snipers in the last century or two used battle rifles.

This would be true if it was still 1958.

The reality is that there are other run-of-the-mill service rifles with service ammo printing inside 2" at 100m. Some are even better than that. Hell, even guns from the eighties can do that.
You guys can make all the excuses you want for your $2500 purchase, but bottom line is technology and standards of construction has caught up to ammo and rifle manufacture such that 4 moa at 100m/yds is kind of...craptastic.
For the Tavor to be made in the 21st century and perform as it does - I think that is a considerable flaw.
As always, ymmv.

I don't disagree, but a service rifle need not be a tack driver to be effective. My point was that people expect tack drivers out of service rifles with surplus/service ammo and that just isn't the reality.

Tavor Blue Colt Canada C8 Red

Not much difference both battle riffles shooting noricrap .223

I enjoy shooting both, craptastic or not....

More details please. Position, rate of fire, sighting system etc.

Israeli is not loosing battles, because Tavor is only capable of 4 MOA

Agreed, a 4 MOA rifle although quite craptastic, is still capable of torso hits to 300 which in Israel is a significant distance ;)

comparing handloads to surplus ammo is like comparing apples to oranges..........I don't think that norinco stuff shoots good for anybody, but if your happy with how it shoots then carry on as some people like bangin' better then loadin'

Those were 100 yard targets, C8 had an eotech and my Tavor had my Specter Dr... Since then I have gone from a 12 lbs trigger to a 4 lbs trigger, So I should try it again.

But Printing groups isn't what I go to the range for, I find it quite boring shooting from the bench.

The difference in sighting system is quite telling. I would expect a substantial difference between 1x and 4x and its just not there. Decent work with Norc ammo either way. I second the boredom of bench shooting. :)

If I compare my groups to most groups posted on CGN, I obviously cant shoot worth a damn and all my rifles are obviously broken. But I have fun so I guess that all that matters...

you can. just most people would have claimed your groups as shot at 500 yards shot off the hood of a borrowed truck or resting on the handle bars of a cousin's friend's quad..........

i get that same results at DILLIGAF when using norinco 556 but it tightens up a lot when using 55 grain ae tactical or hornady 55 grain or 53 grain vmax

Anyone ever check accuracy results with M855 yet? Just wondering what type of groups a guy could hope to achieve.

oh god with xm855 on my Tavor I'm at a 4 inch group at 100, 2 inch on my Colt AR
Best i can get mine is 1.7 inch with 55 grain vmax but I'm gathering a wide variety of ammo for a Tavor ammo review part deux in February or March, stay tuned!

That's about what i figured for greentips in a Tavor but wasn't sure. I'm not a rich guy and can maybe afford to buy 1000rds of ammo a year to run through my rifle. It sounds as though they would be around the same accuracy wise as the dirty bird MFS and Barnaul stuff i've been shooting. For the price difference i was hoping they'd be a little more accurate.

Looking forward to the review #2. Thanks Mike.

Lmao this thread is great. Ya the sun shines on a dogs ass sometimes too. Do a 5 shot 5 groups on one page. Post that. Then we will talk.

let the wife shoot it, bet it shoots better then you think............

Truth, every time! Oh, and 4 MOA isn't really service rifle capable at 400 yds... Good shooting OP, nice to see someone taking the time to bench the Tavor. But, it would be nice to see some more data.
