I though Tavors were "inaccurate"

Mine came with a new propellor-less hat and a coupon for a free bris.

Seriously, todays infantrymen are so burdened down with clutter and what may appear to be irrelevant training that the accuracy of the man and rifle may sadly, be the last consideration.
"Rifle range??? Whatever for, there is no money for that.
However you are making the unit look bad as you have the lowest percentage in the brigade of people with diversity training and none of your NCOs have mental adversity training to tell their members how to practice deep yoga breathing during stressful times."
Am I the only one to hear such drivel on an annual basis?

The Tavor is what it is.
It is an uttterly reliable battle rifle designed especially for fighting in built up terrain.
It is also something that is built to ensure they have their own production, since weapons suppliers like politics changes.

Isn't that the same reason that we insisted on building our own version of the M16 in Canada? A local source.
The inherent accuracy of our C7 is a factor of production quality, not a design or production requirement.

I barely consider myself a mediocre shooter.

I think there are many different criteria of a "good shooter"

1 under stress duress
2 at distance
3 consistency grouping
4 fast target acquisition and putting rounds in the kill zone
5 under adverse environmental conditions

any master of one of these can be called a "good shooter".

Awesome info. Mike, I have finally come to realize I am a "good shooter" after all, because I've managed to shoot while "under stress duress" criteria for years now.

Let me explain: If you consider that while I'm shooting I oftentimes think of my wife actually finding out the total costs of how much I have spent on firearms, ammunition and accessories over the course of our marriage becoming a reality.:(

So then every time this happens while shooting I'm "under (extreme) stress duress" conditions to say the least, but I still manage to perform making me a "good shooter".;)

Off topic but I'm just wondering why this is a sticky? The more stickies there are the less relevant all the stickies become. What am I missing?

If any thing, Mikethebike's should be stickied. Why in the hell is this one stickied?!

Yup. This thread has zero relevance. There have been a 1000 other threads that have died here that should have been stickied before this one. Unsticky it.

If any recent thread needs to be stickied its the recent one on the Beretta CX4 Storm. This carbine deserves a sticky like the rest of the black guns here.

I have a very accurate HK SL8. Once I watched cr5 do a .300 group with it. Another buddy of mine recently did a .600 group with it.. But I didn't post pics on CGN of those groups and proclaim that the HK SL8 is a .3 or .6 MOA rifle. No. Infact I know that since my rifle shoots 1 MOA consistently with my handloads that it is a 1 MOA rifle.

Is your TAVOR one of the newer models with improved trigger pull?

I'm considering selling my Shiloh '74 45-70 in order to buy one. Don't need it - just want it, the ultimate 'cool gun' for me! And my AR 15 mags will fit.

I don't believe so. I think it's still around 12lbs. Now I don't know If I would sell your shilo to buy one. I mean I like the Tavor but it's hard to beat the ol Buffalo gun.

I can relate, but only somewhat. My wife has a rack of rifles (including an AR 15) and several handguns to include three 1911's. She enjoys shooting as much as I do and is well aware that you don't shoot for free.

She does balk when I mention I 'need' a TAVOR, asking what I am willing to part with to acquire one. One of my most valuable rifles is my Shiloh '74 and I rarely shoot the beast. It's much too much rifle to take hunting and I usually pack my Shiloh 50-70 carbine.

I'm at a point in life where all my guns have been selected to fill a specific niche and every time I think of parting with one, that poem of the Arab selling his steed comes to mind .....

Those were 100 yard targets, C8 had an eotech and my Tavor had my Specter Dr... Since then I have gone from a 12 lbs trigger to a 4 lbs trigger, So I should try it again.

But Printing groups isn't what I go to the range for, I find it quite boring shooting from the bench.

Amen! It gets old very quickly putting bullets into the same hole. I expect my rifles to be accurate(within their limitations) or I don't own them. Once I've got my '0' established, I rarely shoot from the bench. Then I fine tune from the prone and sitting position. I'm the ONLY person to do so at our club range.

It amuses me to shoot our 100-150-200-300-400 gongs with my Garand and AR 15 (red dot) from sitting or prone while guys using lead sleds and elaborate cradles are patting themselves on the back for doing the same. And that's with Chinese ammo!

I have a Uberti 44-40Henry that consistently rings our 200m gong off hand by simply putting up the ladder sight to that position.

IMO the biggest limiting factor to Tavor accuracy is the horrendous stock trigger. If you can overcome that, I don't see why 1MOA is unreasonable to achieve.

I guess the question should be asked, with all the new trigger packs in Canada now, has peoples accuracy gotten better? I would like to see some before and after pictures or hear some anecdotes.
