I want a 25-06

X2 On the Kimber Select I have had mine for about 7 months handles and shoots very well Zeiss 4.5 x 14 works well for optics. Nosler 85gr CT very accurate.

I can't believe nobody's mentioned the Tikka T3 yet - I've been trying to decide between the 26-06 and a 270 - the easy part was deciding on the rifle. It will definitely be a T3 stainless, just gotta settle on which cartridge.... I realize this is a 26-06 thread, but I find myself leaning toward the 270. Regardless, the T3 is a good choice. I love my Tikka M595 7-08, and my hunting buddy has a T3 stainless 270 and they're both excellent rifles.

I have had the Roberts, Roberts AI, 25-284, 25-06 and 257 Wby.

The one I settled on is the 25-284. Very similar velocities to the 25-06 with lower variations in velocity = better long range accuracy. It also works better in most short action rifles than the Roberts due to the case being shorter thus more freedom in bullet seating.

For a long range inexpensive coyote plinker I might consider a vanguard series 1 as they're becoming discounted now the S2 is on the market. Add a Boyds stock, detachable mag and Timney trigger and you're golden. For a long range game getter I went for the S2 in 257Wby.

There is a considerable amount of scope in the .25-06. Might be a little hard on pelts if coyotes are part of your plan but with well constructed bullets and proper placement of shots it can be used right up (and through) moose. Mine is a 700V and a 120 grain Hornady went clean through a black bear.

I have a couple I'm looking at at the moment. One is the Marlin MR7 but not sure about the rifle as I have not heard anything about it. And of course a couple Ruger tang safeties have come up :)

I would look hard at a Tikka T-3. A friend has one in 25-06 that is sub 3/4 moa with a few loads.

Tikka T3 SS/Lam .25-06, 100 yards, 5 shots, 5 different loads, 1" squares...
