I want to weld a bent bolt on a M96 mauser

I don't think that's too big. That's just a bit bigger than 1/16".

Yeah its not a lot bigger, just 0.0175 more... Which mean its 28% bigger than a 1/16 rod :p

But I checked at the shop we have some ER70S-2 in stock and since I will not blue the bolt I think I will do it with those rods + its free :D

The only issue now is the heat sink...
I checked at the Brownells site and they have one for a Mauser 98.
I will have to compare the threads on my M48a bolt.

Hope its the same threads :p i'll keep my finger crossed

Finally, the fixture is done. Now I'm waiting for brass tipped set-screws.

Well, I'm back to this project... After more than a year !

I finished yesterday. Now I must polish the other bolt parts.

It was not so hard. Controling the heat was easy. We took about a hour and half to weld it, let it cool, weld...
The heat sink and heat paste did the job !

OP, great job on the bolt by the way. I have a Swede Sporter that BUFFDOG was talking about earlier in your post. Got it from tradex. Seeing how nice your bolt turned out, gives me ideas. Cheers, Marc

Thx guys...

Does anyone notice the SA in a box stamped on the receiver in the last pic ? Its funny, looks like the SA stamp on my finnish mosin.

tell me what you think ?

Thinking, that that's a very sweet rifle you are building triple seven.

Really like your bolt handle work. Thinking, med. rings may be needed depending on scope occular dia..
The stock, like that as well.
Nice job on the safety mortise inlet.

Were it me, I'd zero stress glass bed the entire action, forward to the front of the chamber swell, float the rest of the barrel channel, & bed the bottom metal too. With a thickness of electrical tape's worth of clearance added in all the places that a Mauser receiver should not bear against wood. (IMO, everywhere but the barrel swell/front ring/bedding flat/recoil shoulder's backside surface/& the rear tangs bottom surface)

Maybe file the rear tang profile to a slimmer, thinner, flush with the wood, grip profile?. Thats just me though, LoL!.

If the D&T job doesn't end up perfectly aligned?, Burris signature insert rings will make it all good.

Am looking forward to your range report.

Well thank you vviking...

I have a brand new little Leupold VX2 3-9X40 on hand to top this rifle.
Yeah I'm familiar with Burris Sign/Zee-rings... These are great, especialy for low recoil centerfire rifles.
For the Weaver bases, they looks misaligned in the pics but they are almost perfect when tighten.

The stock is already bed with Devcon. The barrel is entirely free float, Boyds did that for me.
In my opinion, the stock inletting was a bit wide for my taste, just a little bit wider than my action.
I like stock with more *meat* but that's ok cauz its not a exhibition rifle.

Sry but no I will not offer this service, I'm not a certified gunsmith and I don't want to take responsibility for your safety.
