I was ready to buy...

I'm not going to spend my retirement in jail; and we would likely get a longer jail term than a street-punk that used a gun to commit a violent or potentially violent crime; remember it is liberals we are dealing with.

Your choice is your choice. I've made mine.

...a .357 revolver for PPC; after our election, I doubt I will be buying anything for the next few years; so, at my age, that may mean no more new gun purchases ever.

How many others feel this way?

Mark

i dont find your fear silly at all.
in fact ive been wrestling with the exact indecision myself this last month.
its a lot different if you have $2,000 invested in a couple guns and when you have $60,000 invested in your collection.
ive been wanting to pick up a AR10 for the last 2 years and i finally got my money set aside for it and did some research into which one to get and of course they are out of stock in Canada, but i just got a email that the rifle i want is gonna be in stock here in the next 2 weeks and did i still want it..... so i want to invest another 2.5k into my hobby that some libtard is wanting to take away from me?
its a valid concern.
at the end of the day i decided im gonna keep buying what i want and ill deal with any legal changes if and when they come.
hell, im in Alberta, there are billboards up drumming up support to leave confederation already, haha!

i guess at the end of the day im just so disappointing that the politicians focus in on legal gun owners instead of dealing with the problem of the gangs.
you dont often hear of packs of legal gun owners having shoot outs in down town Toronto on a friday night.

My gut feeling is that, at worst, there will be new classifications a la 12X. I'll admit to a buying spree pre-'96, because I thought I'd have to get everything I wanted before it was too late - this might be a better idea than the original poster is suggesting, assuming funds are not tight.

If you want hand guns now's the time to buy before the liberals run their agenda through parliament. Once you own them they'll have a tough time taking them away. Rather than a buy back they'll make all handguns a prohibited status.

I didn't even look at the 357 mag or the 38 special as I don't like screwing around with different size( diameter) and I can run a 44 as cheap or cheaper than the 357- so what do I have- CHATER ARMS BULLDOG in 44 special-so my handgun battery looks like this: bulldog with target grips in 44 special,3inch,ruger redhawk 4.25 inch, ruger redhawk 5.5 scoped and ruger redhawk 7.5 scoped- now I understand there's a redhawk in 44 spcl, but if you're going to carry all that weight, you might as well step up to the magnum

I feel you pain, or fear. But like the old song says, we are here for a good time-not a long time. So right now the sun is shining, so go have a good time!

My next restricted purchase will be a Browning 1911-380, I got a hankering for a small 1911!

When I go back to Mexico, although we will be doing the "Bed and Breakfast Rental Cabin" thing from the get-go, I also intend to set up a small armed Security company. I have all the Political help I would need to do that already with my wife's family and the advantage of having one is the permit to carry "while working on Security contracts" through your company. My "contracts" will be my wife's family of Politicos, thus allowing myself and my immediates to be readily armed without having to skirt so many rules and regulations. Another advantage is that a Security Company is not tied down to the regular "caliber restrictions" that Mexican Law applies to regular civilians. Thus, we could have the 9mm.

I can get Beretta 92fs pistols pretty much "donated" to the cause by going through the paperwork obstacle course, whereas anything else I would have to actually pay for. When I lived in Canada back in the olden days, I had a Beretta 92F right up until I sold my stuff and left at the end of 1990. The FS has some minor differences and I am concerned about "making the Beretta work" for the entire family due to it's size. Thus, to answer your question, "yes, I will buy another handgun even though the election did not go well." It will give me time to see if my wife (and kids, who will pop by to visit from time to time over the next 3 years) can make the Beretta work for them as well. My other future "employee" is still back in Mexico and his hands are gorilla sized anyway, he won't have a problem with one.

We had a S&W 3904 and a Glock 19 in Mexico but I sold them when we came back here to Canada in 2016. Both were quite popular with the family but there were several things about each model I felt uncomfortable with when the wife or kids were using them. With the S&W I did not like the fact that the hammer-dropper safety could be accidently left in the down position making the firearm "on safe" if you needed it in a hurry (which would usually be how you needed it in that environment). The Glock does not give you "double-strike" capability and with some of the rock-hard primers that Technos Industrias ammo sometimes has and can cause a light strike on the first try. I saw this happen with many different Glocks using the Technos ammo over the years and laughed with a bit of a shudder when I saw the problem portrayed (correctly) in the movie "Man on Fire".

So I will soon enough get myself a Beretta 92sf and "work out the bugs" while I'm up here working anyway. It's a project, and projects can cost money. I look at it as an investment I may never get back, but probably will when it comes time to sell it and leave. (I'll take the short trigger, the D-spring, the G-Model safety conversion and the thin grips with me though).

You simply cannot let some politician ruin your life. If you do, he wins. And we were going to do this anyway, no matter who won or what they promised.

Thanks for your understanding. I have been a legal gun owner for over 45 years; handguns for almost that lone. Fought many battles; things went from bad to worse, back a bit then worse, then back a bit but never getting back to the way it was. Other than varmints, I no longer have the physical stamina to hunt. I was hoping for 5-10 years of active participation in club level shooting before I either can not, or am in the ground.

A couple months ago, we buried my second last life time friend and skilled shooter; lucky guy is now looking at this election from a better place than here.

Not only do I have a very low threshold for stupid; but I also have learned that you can not reason with the unreasonable, and logic is wasted on the illogical. Since King Turd I I have seen a steady inclination for politicians to seek glory, power and wealth. Prior, most politicians had a sense of patriotism to Canada, and a desire to serve Canada, Canadians and the world.

Jaded, calloused, and disillusioned am I.

If you have not read the paper; he has won. The west has no voice. We gun-owners in Ontario have no voice.

I shoot lots of revolvers, love them, What is the problem with that?
I also shoot lots of others, as well, Semi, full, etc.
I don't understand this fixation with " you have to have a plastic space gun" and AR 15's

I watched , and bid on some handguns in the last Switzers sale last week, and gee, the prices some of the good pistols ( and rifles) was high.
Junk was cheap, as it should be. And last month same thing , Hi end Prohibs about 2x what I thought they would be.
I thinks sales will go on just as they have, the gun nutz will keep buying , the others will sit on the fence and watch the parade.

I bought the cheapest damn handgun I could find online the night of the election, they want it they can send two people in uniform an hour out of town to come get it and pay me, he'll I'll even make them coffee, I'll just tell them with the new rules I'm afraid to transport it! If we don't hand anything in and they have to come door to door can you figure the cost over runs and wasted time! Making my tax dollars work for me!

On that note though, I'm going to do what I want, two bouts of cancer have taught me it's better to do what you feel like and worry about the bs later, lifes to short to pander to morons all the time, you want it? get it! deal with it later, life's to short

The OP is worried about giving up a $1500 handgun sometime in the future. Anyone who has ever bought a new vehicle is happy to give up $10s of $Ks. Perspective.

For reasons of space, my future purchase plans are limited, however I have a couple of long guns on my list and possibly a 9mm pistol if the right deal presents itself... Despite the very disappointing election results, all is far from lost and I am not giving up hope of some dramatic political changes in the not-too-far future.
