I wish someone introduced me to Walther years ago

I was able to get to the range today and shoot my Walther PPQ M2 5 inch for the first time since I bought it. Ontario has been in a lockdown since Dec 26th. This gun did not disappoint. In fact it is friggin amazing. I have been shooting handguns for over 35 years and the trigger on the PPQ M2 is quite honestly one of the best I have ever tried. It is smooth, crisp and the reset is incredibly short for follow up shots. Like the title of this thread indicates, I really wish I would have tried Walther years ago. Do yourself a favour and give the PPQ series a try. In my opinion you will not be disappointed.

15 years ago Walther were pretty pricey esp compared to glocks, since then a ton more plastic nines come on the market also beating Walter in price and matching in features. So when they released the cheaper (uglier) versions it was a little too late basically.

I always liked Walthers with non-extended....well 106mm in Canada....barrels over the threaded or the 5" ones.

I will soon find out what the support for Walther parts are like. The tip of the striker in my P99 broke. My trigger wasn't resetting, I stripped the slide and after removing the back plate I removed the striker and the broken tip fell out. I had shot less than 200 rounds through this gun and dry fired maybe 200 times only, with an AZOOM snap cap.

My Gen 1 P99 years ago had thousands of rounds / dry fire with no problems, nor did my PPQ.

I maybe totally wrong but I am wondering why Walther pistols are not more popular.

I have shot and owned many handguns over the past 35 years but never a Walther. Up until a few weeks ago I thought that Glock and the Glock style firearms were my preferred choice. On a whim after reviewing a YouTube video from Hickok45 and sootch00 about the Walter Creed, I purchase one. I was not disappointed. In fact I was really impressed. The gun felt so natural sitting in my hand. The ergonomics were amazing and at the range it performed flawlessly. Last week I upgraded and purchased a Walther PPQ M2 5 inch and a Walther P99. Again in my humble opinion the PPQ M2 has one of the nicest triggers right out of the box. Don't get me wrong I still am a Glock fan but the Walther is a hidden gem that I just found.

I am just saying that I wished someone would had introduced me to the Walther brand years ago.

Because most people who want the "rarified" German handguns to shoot out of the gate, with different manual of arms usually gravitate towards Heckler & Koch handguns(me being one).

Shooting my SFP 9 side by side with a friends PPQ M1 I can't say I noticed much in the way of difference. I would say the Walther was a tad snappier but also had a nicer trigger, although this is a pretty close matchup. I found the ppq grip to lack the texturing that sfp9 has. I also prefer the SFP9 factory sights but I'm not gonna give one to either since I usually default to Trijicon HD orange front regardless of the handgun I choose. Going back in time I would choose the SFP 9 again, but I understand why someone might pick the Walther. I am curious how the PDP performs, and what price point they go to.

As for the Creed and PPX I think their looks mixed with the "budget gun" stigma drives people away from them.

I broke down this weekend and purchased a Walther PDP. Looking forward to receiving it. I bought a bigger gun safe and I noticed that there were a few empty spots that needed to be filled.

I was able to get to the range a few times this week with the PDP compact 5 inch. I upgraded the sights to the Shadow Systems Fighter Sights a little while back. It made a huge difference. I really like that you can install any Glock 17 or 19 sights onto this gun. The Shadow Systems sights are Ameriglo but they are slightly taller than standard height and shorter than suppressor height. A fellow CGN'r recommended them.
I also installed a Holosun 507c ACSS vulcan red dot sight. The Shadow Systems sights just give you enough height to have a minimal co-witness. I have said it before and I will say it again Walther makes a great product.

I have owned a Walther P99 for about 4 years now and prefer it to my Glock. Also owned several other brands over the years but I like my Walther the best.

At one point I owned one of every handgun Walther made up to the P88, which was too expensive for my wallet at the time.

Unfortunately I sold most of them off since.

Excellent guns.

I've always wanted a Walther PPK, owned a full size blank firing version in the UK years ago. Its a pity its prohibited here in Canada because its short barreled and can be concealed lol just like any handgun can (shrugs shoulders) I wouldn't mind finding a used P99 at some point in the future. The PPQ looks rather tasty too tbh.

I seen handled a friend's P99. Not impressed. It only fed fired ejected 124 grain ammo. Forget 147! It got stuck inside the chamber because of its tiny throat. Also it was very easy to eject the magazine while shooting. Another friend had his P22 slide come apart while shooting! Good thing he was wearing shooting glasses! Underwhelming design(s) in comparison to what they used to build. Maybe it's the Umarex influence? Plastic junk using airgun-like cheap materials.

I had a P99 years ago, mine fed all grains, never jammed and ran like sewing machine and was accurate. My only complaint is was bit snappy with hotter loads.
