So a while back I was talking to Ryan from IBI about my MDI SLR and and how I wanted a 7.62x39 barrel for it. I had originally intended building my SLR in a x39 fashion out of the gate but getting a NR length barrel was the issue at the time. Ryan very graciously agreed to make me one for testing once he got the proper bits he needed on his end. Well fast forward a bit and not long ago, I had in front of me on 19" Meyers / Steacy profile, stainless barrel chambered in everyone's favourite commie calibre. I have the same barrel in .223 Wylde and it shoots fantastically so I had high hopes but wasn't too sure what even a first class barrel could do with mediocre ammo. Well, there were some surprises...

All in all, I would say these are some pretty impressive results for the round which has largely been deemed as inaccurate. Now as was pointed out by someone in another FB page I am on, it is possible the Hornady Black was a .308 bullet and not a .310 or .311. If that is the case, it may not have been making sufficient contact and thus getting the unexpectedly large group. The one pictured is the tightest I could shoot it FYI. I haven't found any info yet on if that is what Hornady uses for that ammo or not. Something to be aware of though for sure. But that being said and done. I think I can happily stick to the cheap stuff and still be more than happy.
