Idaho trapper recieving death threats

so, you're saying it's acceptable for someone to sit back and videotape an animal that is suffering simply because they want footage of the critter in a leg hold trap?

i have zero issues with trapping, but i have a big problem with people that intentionally prolong the suffering of animals. if a hunter wounds an animal they're expected to finish the job asap rather than screwing around with a camera. could you please explain how this is any different.

For sure I would, but I don't have to because Paatz already did it for me..
See Below:

Animals in traps are there until they are killed by the trapper, when the trapper gets there.
They may "suffer" for quite a while. All of which is considered humane enough to be legal.
A short video is only a snapshot of reality, a reality which most people insulate themselves from, and then are "shocked" (with their "moral" self-righteous self-superiority and created indignation) when faced with it.

My feeling is if we feel it is unethical to do it to people in war, don't do it to animals. Sorry if that blows minds, but ethics are ethics, regardless of the species. I am a man, and as a result, I am aware of my position in the food chain, but also our unique nature allows higher thought process, that includes morality and responsibilty. I subdue my inner ape every chance I get, and accept my many failings are because of it. I prefer to take the high road when I can, though I don't always succeed, I attempt to.

Sounds a whole lot like PETA talk to me

Let's put a hook through your cheek, drag you around a bit and then hold you under water for a couple of minutes for a picture... You seem to be OK with fishing? Like veal? It's hard to suck and blow at the same time but you seem to have it down to an art.

hopefully nobody actually thinks that the blood came from the wolf. Seems to me that wolves eat meat , so it would make sense to bait them with things made of meat. A circle of its own blood .... ya right

Hopefully you took the time to actually read the article:

The image posted on its Facebook page was taken from the Trapperman.com website, including text that joked about the wolf being shot and wounded by a passersby after it was caught — ‘lucky they were not real good shots.’
[emphasis mine]

I was actually thinking the same thing...seeing as the close up picture of the leg hold trap has little to no evidence of bleeding from that paw at all. And the snow that is stuck on the trap is still white...you would think that snow would be dark red with the amount of blood on the ground.

Not sure what the regs are in Idaho, but I know one of my buddies in Labrador traps...he has to check his snares every 24hrs. I agree, the animal should be dispatched as quickly and humanely as possible...but I don't really see how snapping a couple pictures or taking a video during the process is somehow inducing suffering.

This stuff drives me bananas.

How is that a "Dumber photo"? Its obvious the wolf has been dispatched...you've never taken a picture of the entry wound? How is a paw in a trap any different? Because some granola munching leftard terrorists will be offended? #### them.

I'm not saying don't kill, I'm saying do it ethically, regardless of genetic similarities. Not really that earthshaking. Empathy is not a negative quality in a "thinking" animal. We keep walking around like we are an advanced species, no harm in behaving like one occasionally, particularily when it is no trouble to me. For instance, What's the harm in scooping a spider out of the toliet every blue moon? I mean spiders consume a lot of bugs, that would probably annoy me to no end, put him outside my door somewhere and I have a lot less bugs. Plus, to him, that is everything. If he annoys me more, I'm going to kill him real quick, but a quick slap is what I'll do, no pleasure in it, and no delay.

I think both players in this story are twits. One for posing for pictures, rather than just shooting it quickly, and one for grossly overeacting without knowing the whole story. Bounty. What an idiot.:yingyang:

Those who consider trapping cruel need to spend some time at a slaughter plant, from start to finish, and pay special attention to the animals waiting in line.
I don't agree with the posing either and especially those morons who figure every picture/video needs to go on Facebook or other social media sites. Get a life.

X2. Couldn't agree more.
