Seeing that you've got the .30 caliber bracket covered, I think I'd follow Looky's suggestion and choose a .243 or a .22-250. Would it be indelicate to ask what its for?

The 7mm-08 is a nice choice, but I would have more fun with the .358 by far for blowing up pest critters with hollow point pistol bullets. The .358 is also a dandy for cast boolit use as well.

Go old school with the .358 Winchester! I love mine. Also have a straight grip .308 takedown. I always thought 7mm-08 would be a great caliber in the BLR as well. Modest recoil, lots of ammo availability. And....she's no ugly duckling! Maybe an 'acquired taste' but in a world of very boring designed firearms, they are mega cool.

and does the take down feature affect the PoA at all? ever?

Nope - The sights are on the barrel, and if you mount a scope it'll be on the barrel as well with a scout rail. Even if you do put a scope on the receiver of your takedown (I did), I couldn't see any difference in the point of impact (if that's what you mean by PoA).

Of the 3, 308 based BLR's that I have had the 358 was the one that I liked most.
That being said the only BLR I have currently is my 257 Roberts and that one will never leave me as long as I am standing, it is the best for me.

It all depends on how much you like recoil. Little recoil- 7mm-08, lots of recoil 358, 300wm.

I have a 325 wsm non takedown. Handles nicely but I have not shot it yet. Cant wait for the shooting season to start to try it out.

Except for that one, its smooth shooting in a 308.

Don't know of a trigger replacement,........ I have 3 BLR's,.. 2 model 81 steel receivers, (7-08rem, 284win), and a pistol grip 358win,... the triggers aren't match grade bench rest triggers,.. but they are no where near as bad as some people make them out to be,.. I don't mind the triggers on mine at all,... all 3 rifles will shoot moa @ 100yrds.
