After only a decade of using the Tavor rifle, the IDF is replacing the Israeli made rifles with the US made M4 rifles.
I suspect that the decision is financial-political. The US gifts money to its military industry indirectly by giving foreign aid in the form of credits to make purchases from US military companies. Israel receives "gift cards" from the US which can only be redeemed at US weapons providers, so Israel ends up dumping Israeli tech for US tech. This happened in the past with the Israeli Lavi fighter jet and is happening again with the Tavor.
