IDPA/CDPA Safey Course Re: Pembroke

I'm still confused as to what makes IDPA so special... IPSC lets you shoot at any level you want with just about any equipment you want. And pretty much any way you want (as long as its safe).

You don't need to be a gamer, you don't need to drop your mags if you don't want. Just because most choose to do that doesn't mean you have to when you shoot IPSC. You don't even have to do the walkthoughs if you don't want.

Based on my admittely limited knowledge, about the only thing IDPA does that I think you'd actually be prohibited from doing under IPSC rules is drawing from concealed.

Can someone enlighten me if I've completely missed the boat here.

Cost is not significantly different... Even an IDPA legal pistol can cost $2500, and a $350 pistol is perfectly capable of meeting all the IPSC requirements.

Hi Gang

I have posted a couple of threads in the past days that had some inaccuracies in them. It has been explained to me that neither the Black Badge Course nor the Canadian Defensive Pistol Course are recognized by the C.F.O. I thought they were.

They are training Courses offered by there respective organizations to promote safety and show proof of due diligence on the part of clubs, that they have taken all prudent and reasonable steps to avoid an incident.

I would like to apologize to everybody that has read this threat. I regret any confusion that I may have caused.

When I read your post... the one you're referring to to here^ I thought:
"WTF?... Where did this guy get his information... Who's feeding him that BS?"

Yer a stand up guy to "stand up" and make the correction. :)

I've always been interested in IDPA. Does anyone shoot it in Alberta? Preferably down south?

There will be a club starting in a couple of weeks. Watch this forum for details.....

Nothing, no one is saying it is special... that merely your preception only. There are now two flavours of action pistol shooting to choose from now, nothing more.
As with most other new things it will spark an interest and people will be interested in trying. Some will like it and some will not.

I am looking forward to our Qualifier next weekend. It all comes down to getting to your local range and having fun. :D

Remember to have fun people... Walter Middy will be with you. :p
