IDPA gun of choice?

My Bad

I took my mag disconnect off for two reasons:

(I thought this mod would be okay, but I misunderstood the rules on this sort of thing, My Bad )

1) To make it easier for dry fire practice
2)To speed up the process of clearing the gun at the conclusion of the stage.

It is great for both, but......HE Who Must Be Obeyed has made his displeasure clear to me!:slap:

My pistol will be returned to factory configuration. :dancingbanana:

I am not a cheater and I was not trying to gain any type of competitive advantage (there is none with the M&P mag dis. so if this the intent forget it) but the rules are the rules.

I may ##### and whine a little but when it comes to the crunch... I believe if you are going to play the game - then play by the rules...or stay home. :shotgun:

There is no competitive advantage by removing this part, and there is no real safety issue either, no more so then any other gun on the range, of which 99% will not have a mag safety. As an SO, I have to ask and make sure it is in there, but personally I think the rule is dumb, but it is the rule and we have to follow it.

As far as the, "it saves lives" argument goes, well that goes both ways as well. I have read several articles and spoke with instructors who say the opposite, the fact that it was removed save lives because they could engage with the one round in the camber while reloading if required. This argument is nothing more then semantics and has no bearing on IDPA or any competition.

The following modifications are NOT ALLOWED IN ANY DIVISION unless otherwise specifically mentioned.

Reply from Smith & Wesson

To end any misconceptions regarding guns without mag disconects I wrote S&W. Here is there reply:

"Hi, unfortunately it is not possible for me to tell what has been exported to Canada. However the product code for the M&P without the mag safety is 109301. All guns manufactured without the mag safety will have a warning printed on the slide."

If a M&P does not have a mag disconenct and does not have the warning markings on the slide it has been illegaly modified. Penalty is disqualification from the match. Please guide yourself accordingly.

If you have ay questions in this regard PM me.

Take Care
